WOW!!! Crazy. I have driven the Tail with my Harley and Vette. I am always worried about the other guy. So glad you are ok, and guy on the bike while maybe a few broke bones and a bruised pride, will be ok.

Our car was hit by a biker when I was a kid. Pretty much the same scenario with the biker flying through the air over our car. I can still remember it 52 years later.

I'm glad everyone's OK.

Hope everything works out for you. Watching the video, the motorcycle rider looks to have panicked midway through the curve. If he'd stayed leaned over and continued to look through the curve, he should have been able to negotiate the curve.

Just watched the video. What a way to have your day ruined. Glad you both are OK - another example of just how dangerous that road can be.

If I had to guess, I would say that it will be very close as to whether the car is totalled or not. Best of luck in whatever happens.

Glad everyone is okay
Not sure if it's totalled without seeing it first hand but by your description of the damage should be less than $10K.
I've have heard the color of your Vette is hard to match so if you do get it fixed, inspect closely.

That's what I'm thinking. Right off the top there's the airbags ($2000 parts and labor). Major damage to the left front wheel suspension and steering. The steering wheel wouldn't turn. New rim and tire. All that before you even start to think about the body work. New hood, bumper, fender, windshield and painting.

Glad your ok. I would'nt have been so nice to the bike rider if he had hit my vette. According to the video, it looks like he was trying to do you bodily harm.

Myself being a bike rider for 40 years, you were way too nice to him. He was a moron causing an incident on a road where you need to give 110% attention to your riding. He's amazingly lucky he wasn't hurt more. I would've been more than just a little pissed. He should have known better and doesn't deserve your kindness. BTW, in 40 years, I have never been down and it isn't just luck. I also admit to riding a little too hot sometime, but I use good judgement where and when. It's not like that road doesn't have a reputation.

Having driven the Dragon a few times, I'm amazed that more of that doesn't go on. As one other poster said, "you were way to nice". I'm sorry but I probably would have beat the crap out of him!!

I've seen quite a few things on the Dragon...this one is ! Things like that can happen unexpectedly and not be your own fault. Lives can be changed in mere seconds. Glad everyone came out reasonably ok.

Your car looked identical to mine. Wanna replace it with one with less miles? I think mine has 85K on it.

I have to say, since I got mine, I've had a LOT of people do stupid crap around me on the highway. Two times in a half mile I had one of these gasholes as we call them in PA (transient guys who work for the gas companies) try to kill me in mine. I am still not certain it was not intentional, since he twice swerved across a lane (as if he was making a last minute exit choice) and all I can say is, if my car didn't stop and evade as it does, I'd have had it destroyed in its first month right there. It's red, it's not like it blends in for cryin out loud.

I am not certain I ever saw a wrecked car thread in all my years on the F-Body forums I was on. But here, it's like a daily thing. No wonder the insurance companies crank up the rates on these. And now that I own one, I can't say it's the owners of the cars as much as the other people on the road smashing into em. Yea, there's the occasional one stuck in the weeds when someone looses it when playing around, or tracking a car, but, just look over the last months at threads. Rear ended while sitting still, sideswipes, etc. Must be all the smart phones...
Thanks, your the man.

At the end as stated above, ALL walked away. The car/bike can be replaced, but you cannot. Good luck with repairs!!!

This is a question that should be ignored IMO.

This is for parties with a need to know and not public discussion.

There is no dispute as to who was at fault.

A discussion about speed won't change that fact.
