What is the last 5 digits of your VIN?
There is definitely parts that have more Taliban, generally the South-East region. Thats where the Pashtun tribe is, and not all Pashtun's are Taliban but all Taliban are Pashtun's if that makes sense. Last 5 is #06232

Got me an AR15 for Christmas before they went crazy in price a few weeks ago! I hope your repairs end up being more affordable than you fear.
I appreciate it! The repairs were not more affordable than i feared. I wanted to get one for my personal use as well and a SW M&P .40, they shoot smooth as butter. Couldn't afford it though, but i'm going to Germany so i think the re-built engine will be a lot more fun there.

If the last 5 of your VIN is less than 09000 then you should swap your valve springs. Otherwise, you're probably OK.

It sounds like you have everything worked out. I was going to suggest a new stroker engine, just glad you're up and running. I went with a 383 and am very happy with it. I really want to just thank you for your service and offer any help I could.

Not a problem, i love my job when i get to do it. Getting ready to move to Germany, i'll be stationed there for 3 years. I can't wait. Unfortunately my savings account is now drained, but im looking forward to the autobahn.

Good article about Beehive valve springs. GM and other manufacturers uses beehive springs for a reason. Failures are rare but it does happen. Failures are a result of inclusions in the wire and surface defects. GM buys the springs from a supplier. The same springs are used on many GM V8 because the heads and valves are the same. I personally am not worried about it on my C8. If it happens, I’ll get it fixed.
