Default Drop top glass repair

Installed my cags shift eliminator over the weekend and repaired my rear glass. Got my cags from Compliance parts. Easy install, found it much eadier to just remove battery. The connectors are easier to get to. Also repaired my rear glass . Went to Advance Auto and picked up two powerful suction cups for about $18 made by Autocraft. These things really have the grip and are actually dent pullers. I Installed a small hook in the garage door to lift with. I used a retractable dog leash to install to the suction cups. Rope woulds also work fine. Make sure the rope or whatever you use is placed in the center between the cups for even lifting preasure. Clean the gasket on the glass and the top. Have the hoist ready to go because once the Rhino glue is installed you don't have much time to work with. My glass came free on both sides, part of the bottom and the top. I did the bootom and sides first, pulled the hoist and let the glue set up. I then took a little preasure off the hoist and glued the top part of the glass. Reapplied the preasure and let it cure out for about three hours. Removed the appuratus and came out fine. You could let the preasure on as long as you like but I needed to close my door overnight. Seems these cool nights the black snakes like a warm garage so I keep it shut up. You could get by without the cups but they sure make things alot easier and will come in handy for other things, nice tool to have. Here are a few pics for those that have never done this. Thanks to all the guys that helped me.

VettemanJack, thanks. One more question, see those white spots at the bottom of my top in the pics? Looks like old wax or compound. I have scrubbed with a tooth brush, cloth, etc, and the things won't come off. Anybody know of a product that would make them black again. Is there a product on the market that would sorta die the hole top and make it look new black again? After 13 years mine is in excellent shape but does seem to be faded a little even though it has always been in a garage. Any ideas?

You could always e-mail them and ask your question before you buy.

Try a product called Rag Top Cleaner, Autogeek has it. Or even an APC would work, you just need to be a little more careful with using it.

I will give it a shot and see if it works, probably needs sealed anyway. MRM, like that do you? Yes that was some creative engineering but where there is a will there is a way. Actually I can't take the credit, it was a suggestion of my other post on how to fix it from one of the links. SSTG, I didn't put the white stuff on there, it was that way when I got it. I have worked about every weekend detailing and fixing some things since i bought it in July. It has not been too bad since it was always garage kept and driven in good weather. Thanks for the information everyone.

I fixed my window with rhino glue, as explained on another post, and got good results with just stuffing pillows against the glass as i worked. Came out great, and the work was very easy.
