Will a 335 tire fit on a 10.5 wheel?
Looking at a set of hoosiers for my car. running 18x10.5 in the rear and 17x9.5 on the front.
have 275x40x17 on the front and for the rear i was wanting either a 335x30 or a 315x30.
Iv heard mixed reviews about a 335 fitting on a 10x5 wheel. Can anyone clear it up for me?

On a Michelin PS2 tire, Tire Rack recommends an 11.5-12.5" width rim for that width tire.

as a rule of thumb you can usuallygo about 20 over on the width from the stock size safely, so with that wheel width going from a 285 to a 305 is very okay...if the tire has a good stiff sidewall then 30-35 over is often okay but is close to the limits of safety, more than 40 over is a death trap...It also will not improve grip.
315 is the absolute max I'd go on a 10.5" wheel...and even then, only with a tire that has a very sturdy sidewall.
Your overall performance is likely to be better with a good grippy 305 on that wheel size IMHO
