That has happeded a couple of times in my 2001 over the last year. It went away both times by just shutting the car off.

PS: Not the expert on column lock issues but it is my understanding the the dealer "fix" is not a 100% fix. Search on column lock bypass to see if you have the best "fix"

It would be nice to know what year you own and manual or auto.
BOTH problems need to be addressed differently. (EBCM & Column Lock issue)

You might want to fill out your profile so we can help accurately.

Hate to break it to you but, the GM dealer column lock fix is not very reliable. It rarely works correctly and/or lasts. An inexpensive $50 CLB would have fixed your column lock permanently. It would have taken you all of 15 minutes to install.

I was already to go to the dealer for the "Fix" on a Monday but was talked out of it over the weekend by the people here. I'm glad they did when I told the dealership I couldn't make it in the service manager said good. He said they would need time to figure out how to fix the column lock they would need the car for a few days.

I figure I would've had a lot more problems after they messed with my car since they seemed clueless.

Default clueless

You are correct! Most dealerships seem clueless on whats wrong with things. I stopped by one here in Phoenix the other day because I was having issues with the codes going crazy all the time and the windows not working. The Shop forman told me to pull the drivers seat out and check the wiring under it? Before I did that I checked here on the Forum and found that the wiring going from the door into the car gets squished and sometimes shorts out. I pulled back the wiring and sure enough there was a bad spot on the wire. I fixed it and now have no problems. Trust the Forum not the stealerships!!

Yep.......Get the CLB and have the assurance your good to go. Do a search and you'll see the number of folks who had the "dealer fix" only to have problems after the fact. Good Luck

Anything the dealer does to fix the column lock does more damage than good.

From a dealership person that everyone seems to want to slam on your other concern in original post sounds like a wheel speed sensor going bad or even a wheel bearing. Use the DIC and check the code, check wires leading to that sensor. Clear code and check code next to see if the same code comes back.
