Looking at 1998/99 and other than by the codes how can you tell the diff between regular stock rims and the magnesium ones?

'98 & '99 stock wheels were the wagon wheels which look like this:


The Sport Magnesium Wheels were an (expensive) option but a big improvement:

Magnesium wheels are much lighter than aluminum. My Pantera has magnesium wheels and they are really light compared to a similar aluminum wheel. If you want magnesium, remember they age with use and should be inspected (dye checked) for cracks prior to buying. I would not use used ones that have not been inspected and then heat treated to bring them back to "like new" condition. Just so you know.

PS: If you use hammer-on wheel weighs that are not "adhesive" you will get corrosion in the contact area. If driven in the rain this is accelerated.

M-A-G-N-E-S-I-U-M decal on the wheel is a hint.
Unless they have been refinished.

If they are in good shape, the magnesium ones will be bronze in color and have a decal with the word magnesium on the lip of the wheel. The stock wagon wheels (much thicker spokes) are painted silver.
