Default Police and LEO Hot Rods/Muscle cars

In one thread here recently, there were a few pics of Police 'Vettes posted. Really cool stuff!

If you have pics of any kind of performance car put into service by a law enforcement agency, post 'em up and let's have a look!!!!

I know I always enjoy seeing them, how about you???

No not so much. I prefer to see them sold and the money spent where it was intended.

Well, when most of them are used in proactive community service/improvement programs such as D.A.R.E., etc. I guess I don't understand what you mean by the money being spent "where it was intended."

Can you enlighten me?

Thanks

How do you figure when the car being used was usually aquired for free from siezure for being used in the commision of a felony?!?!?

Throw some stripes and insignia on a car they already have as opposed to buying a new cruiser or purpose-built vehicle. Gee, I wonder which costs more?!?!?!?

Yes, they could sell it at auction, and we all know what kind of money that will bring......or.......get a valuable connection with kids using something they already admire to convey an important message that will reach thousands of kids for years to come!!!! Which is the greater value?

Sorry, I didn't intend for this to immediately become a debate or diatribe on the effectiveness of various uses of tax revenue!!!!!!

I just wanted to see some really cool pictures of some really cool cars that are a little different from what we see all of the time. It was supposed to be fun.

Whew...........I give up!!!!!!

When I lived near Detroit there was one in Bloomfield Hills that I believe was donated by a local Chevy dealer (no tax dollars squandered ).

I didn't take the pic and I believe it's been on here before but here it is.

I agree with you - a free car to help promote DARE or some other worthy educational outreach program - not a bad deal for the taxpayers. They can always sell the car later on if they desire, but might as well get as much publicity out of it as possible.

Thanks Munch!!!! I appreciate it buddy!! Maybe this will get things going. Let's just have some fun with pics we don't see very often!!!

I'll even re-post the ones from my reply in the other thread.

This car's main purpose is the D.A.R.E program, going around to different schools doing what they can to educate kids about the dangers of drug use!!! A very noble effort in my opinion as a teacher!!!

DSTURBD

P.S. I love the one with the riot gun mounted right next to the NOS bottle!!!!!!!!! "We'll get there fast and then we're gonna raise some hell!!!!!!!!"

Thank you sir!!!!! I agree with you too. As a matter of fact, between you and Corvette Ed, I realize that maybe.....just maybe, I'm not quite as DSTURBD as some might think!!!

I do appreciate your kind words, sir!!

This is the best one I have seen yet!

I also agree that this is a great way to educate our children about the dangers of drug use.

If one wants bitch about wasting "tax dollars" then they should blame the feds. GSA is a great example of government waste. Not some Police Agency using a seized drug car to help children. People love to judge the police about what they do without understanding why they do what they do.....typical sheep.

Local Sheriffs office has a C6Z06. Seized from a drug bust several years ago.

Works great for getting speeders and drug mules trapped.

Several Charger R/Ts around too.

^^^^

LOVE IT!!!

People need to relax a little. The conversation about D.A.R.E. has come up before. Depending on the state, selling the confiscated vehicle either goes back into the city or state coffers, or directly to the police service. In the end LEO funding comes from some branch of government at some level. The money received is used to buy more cars, equipment, and so on....my point is keeping the cars is no different then receiving money from the proceeds they would have gotten at auction, and the kids really think it's cool! I know it sure got my attention when I lived in Florida...I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread!!!

One problem with no back seat. Do you cozy up with the prisoner in the front seat or just let him drive and hold a gun on him until you get to the jail ?

What bothers me is the whole confiscation thing. If someone commits a crime then they should do the time, but I don't agree with taking their property unless the items were stolen from another victim. There have been alleged instances of drugs being planted in someones expensive car so the car can be seized. Think about that the next time you get pulled over in your corvette. It started with cars, now it is mansions. What next? Is this the USA or Russia ?

Dont pay your taxes, the IRS can and does put liens on real property.

Part of "the time' is confiscation of the property, and or seizure of any income derived from the business. which even includes income from legitimate books about the incident.
