Default Automatic Shifter Install help

Looks like I need to replace the shifter assembly. I purchased a new one, removed the **** and center console. Before I go any further I was wondering what happens after I take off the 4 nuts that hold the shifter to the console. Does it just lift out? I don't want to pull it up then find out I can't put it back together. It seems like it only attaches at one point.

Thanks for any feedback

Don't lift it much more than about a half an inch or the cable will crack, stop lifting when you feel any resistance then use a long screwdriver to pry the cable end off the shifter ball end. To install the new shifter loop a large rubber band over the cable end so you can pull the cable end on the shifter ball then use a screwdriver to snap it on.
