converting my coupe to a zo6/targa
Thought yall might wanna check this out...
Gettin the car tore down
Tore the halo and top of the rear tub off
The new top of the tub and roof sittin in place
The targa barly fit in the trunk!
Cut the Z06 hardtop for the targa
Everything sat back in place
Ill keep yall posted with some new stuff if yall would like. dont have quarters or a trunk lid yet! Still got to glue it all down and mold the front edge of the halo on the z06 roof for the targa

Oh my. This is what I've been waiting for, someone to take plunge and document it. I know there's others on this forum but the threads are a bit outdated and pics don't work. Gonna be awesome to watch the progression.

Question, the Z06 didn't have the targa top designed for a reason, from what I read leaving a solid top helped the rigid frame from twisting and or flexing. Have you done anything to the frame to increase the rigidness without a solid top?? I like what you did and it looks great, my only concern would be the top flexing during track events if any or twisting going up and off sidewalks from the garage.. Keep it up, nice job.

Since his car was a C5 the point is still moot. No matter the end result of any C5 ie. frc, coupe, conv, the frame in regards to rigidity is the same because it was designed as a convertible. Only after did they decide to affix the appropriate roof combo. If OP wanted to remove the roof completely as a conv., he could do so without fear of any frame issues whatsoever.

The C5z and C5 coupe are the same frame. Only difference is the one peice flexible fiberglass roof that isnt supporting crap IMO. As far as anything metal...no difference.
My little 4 point roll bar should stiffen it plenty if I was concerned...which im not.
Ill keep yall posted with more pics!
