stock exhaust
Might be getting a 99 vert this weekend with only 35,000 miles. Car looks and drives great.Only thing I don't like is the stock exhaust. Is there anything you can do to make a stock exhaust have a good sound or am I stuck with no sound until I can afford a after market kit? Must be something a person could do to get a good tone. Any ideas?

You could get an exhaust bypass welded to help out a bit. People with titanium exhausts go this route for a better exhaust note.

Wish I had known about this mod when I had my last '99!!!
I bought Corsa Indy Tigershark cat back and Corsa's X-pipe. They were supposed to be louder than the Touring model, but I was very disappointed in the volume level. Absolutely loved the looks though and this mod might have gotten me right where I wanted to be!?!?!?
This time, I am going to try this on my stock exhaust before I buy another mega $$$$$ exhaust system!!
Thanks for the awesome post!!
Edit: Still think maybe the shop slipped me a set of Tourings and told me they were Indies to get the sale!!!!

Drill twelve 1/2" holes in each muffler.
Just kidding. I agree with all of the other guys. Go to some car shows and Corvette club meetings and listen to a wide variety of exhaust systems to pick which one you like. Youtube is also very useful as well. Good deals can usually be had on used catbacks in the Parts for sale section here on the forum.

thanks guys, thinking about trying that myself. Wonder what the best way to get holes from the inlet to the tips would be? Hate to sound cheap but the economy is bad right now and the expense of the car and a wife wanting something for a payback is rough.
