If the PCM is damaged from battery acid, will the car still show codes ?

I pulled all the codes and cleared them and tried again...Didn;t start and threw the code P 1631 H C which is "Theft Deterrent Password Incorrect". My guess is that it has to do with the resistors on the keys...as neither one consistantly starts the car.
The BCM and PCM share a secret password between them that you have no control of. If this password isn't passed through, I'm guessing you have serial interface comm buss issues. If there are other codes present, sort of need to know what they are. Check three areas which are typical problems for the comm buss...both door accordian tubes and lastly the driver's seat to car interface connectors. If the serial interface pins/sockets are lose, you'll have problems. You can issue a security relearn procedure which will force the PCM and BCM to relearn this hidden password or you can get it to a dealer and they can do it but I don't think this will solve the issue of the password being wrong. Now if you replaced the BCM or PCM and didn't do the security relearn, it will never start.

Been fighting this problem with my wife's '02 ZO6 for several months. Been through all the usual stuff (battery, clean the key pellets) and, in addition, changed out the ignition switch (cleaned the old one first but it didn't solve the problem), pulled the BCM and resoldered some questionable looking connections, replaced the clutch interlock switch and still having times where it won't crank.

Just pulled the codes and not a one is set...

I had a problem and replaced the battery, still wouldnt start so replaced the starter and that was the problem. Had to get a push start to get home from work. One upside to a manual trans.
