No Steel Braided Hose?
As I was crusing around various sites and looking at mods I'd like to add to my Y2K AW I realized something that is missing. I haven't seen any Vettes with steel braided hose. SBH adds a very clean look to any engine compartment, helps bleed off excess heat from hoses, and the ends can be color-matched to the car's paint or engine color scheme. Why is this old school staple apparantly not used at all on C5's?

I've only seen a couple here on the forum and can't remember who's cars they were. I too like the look but I just think the cost is a little high for the SBH.

It is used, they are out there.......
I have purchased a set and is on my to do list to fit on my C5.
Chip at CCA has them, (he is an awesome vendor as well).

I know it's expensive if you have someone do the work for you, but if you buy the tools and do it yourself it's really pretty reasonable. HotRod magazine used to have a tutorial on their site; I've got a copy of an old issue that has a how-to that explains the entire process and lists all of the tools required to do the job right.

to do them right means you have a hose shop make them and use flared AN hose ends. like people have said that's a cost thing. using just the hose and band clamps is kind of cheesy which is another reason it isn't done.

Good observation, I too haven't see a lot, a few, but not a lot. I seen them on Ecklers for upper and lower radiator steel braided for $159. I think that's a little high but it is on my Wish List, I like the looks. What I think is stopping most is, once you start it, you have to finish the rest of the hoses and I don't see kits for all of the hoses in the engine bay. Kinda of like once you start...but great question.... Enjoy the ride.

I would use the AN flared ends if my engine was worthy of such expense. Being near stock, the anodized band clamps will work fine

They certainly add to the engine bling. Laurie, aka "Tomboy" has them installed in her MSG vert. I'm thinking about adding them someday, however they are further down my mod list.
