Default Anyone on here ever driven this? [AZ]

Arizona: Highway 191

US 191 between Alpine and Morenci, AZ, is considered the curviest paved road in the US. The road winds through many mountains over a course of 80+ miles with over 400 significant curves. It's very desolate, gorgeous and darn fun to drive.

That looks like a great drive. The Big Thompson Canyon drive coming
into Estes Park Colorado is a nice drive also, lots of curves, river and
mountain scenery..

Wow, that looks like a great drive! I just got out of hospital today from a near death heart arrhythmia issue. I'm tired, sore, full of pin holes and I'm lookin for a corvette ride!

I will research that one and maybe hit the road this week! Thanks for sharing!

Maybe CF needs to start a "Great Drives" archive.

I was going to post about a section of Route 8 that stretches from north of Winston Salem in NC to just south of Blacksburg, VA. It looks like somebody beat me to it.

Never driven that particular road, but from the pics, it's one I would like to take my C5 on - that and Tail of the Dragon.

I have driven both the Alpine AZ road and the Estes Park road that were pictures above.

My parents had a home in Show Low for a few years and the Alpine road was one of the roads we explored around there. FUN.

We went on vacations several times to Estes Park. A little over 20 years ago I bought an '87 Corvette on vacation. (Bought it just outside of Denver.) I remember driving it up to Estes Park and as we came into town I saw a go kart track. My first thought was that it would be fun, then I realized I was in a Corvette and there were a lot of mountain roads. We did a lot of exploring the roads around there. FUN too.

Been there, we drive that route at least once a year, as well as the road to Greer, AZ. It is very fun, but very taxing on your nerves, as the turns are switchbacks, and leave very little room for error in most cases. If you break down or go off the roadway you are SOL. We typically do the roads between Yarnell Hill and Prescott, similar switchbacks, at a shorter more manageable distance. A tow if needed on thirty minutes, instead of three hours!!!

Of course the Corvette is out front!!!!

I had the pleasure of riding that stretch of highway on my bike last year.

US 191 Was originally Rt 666 and was nicknamed The Devil's Highway. it was changed in 1993 but is still know by many as RT666.

This is a fantastic road with great twisties and scenic views. I had never heard of this road until a few years ago but from what I understand it is very popular with many motorcycle riders. A couple of the locals in Alpine told me they see tons of motorcyclist from come over from Europe just to ride this road.
