Finished my build...
For those of you that don't visit the performance section.
Picked up a White 2001 Z06 a couple months back to build into a consistant and competitive bracket/11.50 car with excellent street manners.
First thing I did was convert to an auto. Here's the rundown of the build
01 Z06
Stock bottom end with 157,000 miles
Chevy Performance Parts Hot cam
Mostly stock LS6 heads - just a valve job and some milling by Dave at D&F performance inBerlin, NJ
Melling oil pump
C5R timing chain
Underdrive pulley
Yank 4000 converter
ACE built 4L60E
3.42 differential with upgraded internals
Stock suspension in the back - Lakewood 90/10 shocks up front.
I got it all together a couple weeks ago and just got it tuned by Doug at ECS on Thursday. Then Thursday night took it to Atco for some shakedown passes. I've never driven a stalled auto before.
Vid of the first pass ever.
I was really happy with that pass. The car felt great. I spent the rest of the night trying to dial for 11.50 and working on figuring out how to stage and launch to cut a light.
Last pass of the night I ran it out to an 11.05@121
The car far exceded my expectations
Saturday, I went to Englishtown to compete in the Corvette Challenge, the Corvette Pro 11.50, and the GM-EFI brackets.
I'm glad I entered 3 classes, because I needed the seat time to figure things out.
By the time elims started, I was begining to get comfortable.
I went red in my first round of the CC, but won the first round of the GM-EFI. At that point, my day was a success. Then I won the first round of the 11.50, against one of the top drivers in the class - damn, that felt good.
Round 2 of the 11.50, the ladder puts me against Ellis Grey, the points leader and a pretty accomplished racer. I cut a better light, and got him by a fender.
Round 3 - the finals in the 11.50 I run my good buddy Gary in his C6Z. I won in a double break out.
In the GM-EFI brackets I made it to the semi finals.
So, to say I'm happy with this car is a tremendous understatement. It is everything my blue car wasn't. I can drive this car anywhere in comfort and rip off a low 11 second pass. The only thing my car needs is Sirius satellite radio.

Thanks. And thanks for the parts! It has been a pleasure doing the swap with you.
I saw pics of your car in the "agressive" thread. I don't believe I've seen it before - it certainly fits the category. It's beautiful.
Have fun with your conversion.

Sorry Pete, I had too.
Great write up and great Vette you have there. Congratulations on getting it completed, I know you have been working on it for a long time. I see lots of wins in your future.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it.
While I did this build in my garage on jack stands, I had a lot of help with this build.
Doug, Chris, Matt, and Tommy from ECS
Tommy, because he deserves to be mentioned twice.
My racing buddies Marc and Andrew
And Doug and I talked a lot about building this car before I even bought it or even knew what I was going to buy.
