Default R & R Tonneau Lift Cylinders for the Big and Tall

I am way too big to climb into the trunk of my convertible to R&R the lift cylinders so I did it this way.

First you open the trunk and disconnect the large end of the lift cylinder.

Close the trunk lid, open the tonneau cover and disconnect the small ends.

Close the tonneau, open the trunk and attach the new cylinders to the posts in the trunk.

Close the trunk, open the tonneau and connect the other ends.

Looking at the pics below you can see the tool I used to disconnect the ends of the cylinders from the posts. Just hook it under the metal clip, pull, and it will pop off. You can feel where the hook needs to be placed without climbing into the trunk.

The new ones attach merely by pressing onto the posts.

Here is the lift cylinder buried up under the quarter panel.

Here is the tool I used.

Here is where you place the tool to remove the cylinder.

Woo! Hoo! Now my cover opens up and stays up.
