Parking Lot Takes Corvette For A Joy Ride
I guess this could happen anywhere, dealership, valet...
The only person I trust with my keys is me.

Why would you park your car in a lot and give the owner your keys? Is that a florida thing or what? Even more, why would you drive your car if you're going on vacation. I've ALWAYS taken a cab, bus, or got a ride from a friend when I go to the airport for example.
And don't people record the odometer reading before giving keys to anyone ?? I know I do.
Not saying the guy is right. But owners are slightly stupid IMO.

A prime example of why there will be no valet parking for my Vette.

We cruised out of Port Canaveral in December. There is plenty of do it yourself parking at the terminal. No need to even use a service like this at that terminal in the first place. Of course, the Corvette was safe at home while we were cruising.

Never happen. For auto theft you have to permanently deprive the owner of use....chop it, sell it ect. Anything less is considered joyriding. In this case it's a rental car and they willingly handed him the keys. I seriously doubt any legal action is taken. Not saying the jerk is right but I think it would be pretty hard to make anything stick. Prosecuters have bigger fish to fry. I'm no lawyer but that's how I see it.

I saw this on the news yesterday while I was out having pizza with the family. I caught only half of it and it was subtitled. I'm glad someone posted this up.
Thats why I would never think about parking my Vette in any parking lot!

These lots exist because the Port is gouging for parking. They recently released a commercial portraying a woman getting followed/accosted while approaching her car in one of the cheap lots. The cheap lot owner is suing over it. Now this yahoo just gave the Port the ammo they needed. That's the sad part.
While it's not grand theft auto it may be unauthorized use of a motor vehicle but I wouldn't be surprised if the lot owner didn't get a release of some kind authorizing them to move the car while in their care. That's why they required the key.
