I don't have it, but I wouldn't mind having it. It seems the most comfortable position on my steering wheel blocks the speedometer so I have to leave it where I can see it.

I did not have it on my 97 and it wasn't a big deal. Now I have it on my 02 and love it.
My point is that if you find the right car, HUD should not be a deal breaker. I suggest driving 2 cars, one with and one without, and make up your own mind which is best for you.

I use it all the time and love it. Not a single problem seeing it in daylight either. It's still a wonder to me that more cars don't come equipped with a HUD from the factory. It seems like such a nice and functional option that could be had for a reasonable price increase. There are so many C5's out there optioned out with HUD that I probably would pass on those without.

I've had the HUD on all three of my C5s (99, 00, and 03) and absolutely love it. Wish all my cars had it. For me personally, I would not want a Vette without it, but again, that's just me. I can't remember when the last time I looked down at my instrument cluster was. I do not have to take my eyes off the road when using the HUD and the info I need it right there. You've gotten a lot of opinions +/- on the HUD - now you just have to decide.

Hard to clean...really? spritz some microfiber with some Stoner glass cleaner and wipe...pretty easy. I think I've cleaned my HUD lense 2 to 3 times since I've owned my car...no issue reading it.

Resale bonus
If you ever sold your car with the HUD to a non-Corvette owner, it would be a big plus to them. Every person I've ever shown it to thinks it's super cool.
My unit was replaced under extended warranty last year, it was getting hard to see, particularly while wearing shades.
I like it, wish the tach was more prominent.

For those of you that have them and or have installed them.. Are they customizable at all? i.e. Brightness? Or anything for that matter. I would love to just have one but was curious.

I forget it's even there. I could take it or leave it. More noticeable at night. If you wear polarized sunglasses you may as well turn it off in the daylight.

Never use it. I have to replace my windshield and my cost on a new one installed is $1000 for HUD, a non HUD is $350 and from what I've heard the difference is the display between the two is very minute.

I love it. Even though its reletively old technology, people are STILL impressed when at night I say "hey, lean over here". Well...MOST are impressed, and some just get uncomfortable not knowing exactly why Im having them put their head over my lap...

The lens on mine looks like someone put a set of keys in it thinking it was a cubby hole... looks like crap. Some day I will pull the dash and see what I can do to make the lens look better. Is it cool, I guess, but right now, I could leave it...
