Default Miles per gallon

Just got back from filling the Vette up with gas. Did some calculations and my numbers are 15 mpg over ten tank fulls. The car is stock. Runs great. We're not speed demons. I read about people getting high 20's ,low 30's all the time in The Forum. My wife says they must be the ones who need the skip shift bypass!

Did you use the car's mpg calculator or did you do it with a stubby pencil? What kind of gas are you using? Clogged injectors? Tire pressure? clean air cleaner? Lots of factors....

What is your percentage of highway vs. city driving? Much stop and go traffic conditions? If all city driving, 15 mpg may not be too far off the mark.

So let me get this straight. You get 150 miles out of a tank of fuel? I find that pretty difficult to believe if you in fact are not "having fun" each time you go out.

I just did a 20 mile funeral procession today in no higher gear than 3rd, and I got 18mpg during that stint.

Check your mileage again and be certain of your math. If you are getting 15mpg, and a lot of your driving is on the highway, then you are getting about 1/2 of what most get.

My last tank in the '03 was 29.4 according to the DIC and I usually get 30-31 or better on trips (MN6). I think your calculations are off.

My "99" with the 3.15 gear gets 30-31 mpg on the highway and around 24-25 combined so i think you've either got a very heavy foot or a real problem! I've hade 3 c-5s in a row and got excellent mpg with all three. And yes, they were all modded to some extent.

I hope the one I'm picking up in a week is better than that on fuel.
I am hoping to get some relief from the 11mpg I get with my Escalade.

Definitely something wrong somewhere. With all the mods, I get 18- 20 around town and 22-24 on the road at 80-85. Sounds like it could be a sensor problem.

Ok. I hope you are all right. I will get some help with my math and check back in. The car is very well maintained by a well known mechanic. It runs like a champ. Stay tuned!

Pull your codes. You might have something going on. Even my '99, freeway, 31mpg and its got 326K miles on it. In town, it runs about 23 or so.

I'm averaging 15-18 with a big stroker motor and a heavy foot. That's calculated the old-fashioned way, fill-up to fill-up.

DIC says 21-23 on the highway. I'm not sure how accurate that is.
