1) You have a car that looks awesome
2) You have a car that performs great
3) You build the damn thing in your garage
I see three good reasons why the locals would be jealous. As long as YOU enjoy the car take that 440+ rwhp and throw some dust on their cheesy matching jackets

Z06
Since I took a perfectly good running 02 Z06 and went through the whole thing upgrading its performance, its now ruined. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with it cosmetically or mechanically, but since its not stock anymore, I destroyed it. This is according to a few people in the local Corvette club. I honestly want no part in their little club, but its somewhat frusterating. I might be preaching to the wrong choir here, but I just needed to vent.
Although GM High-tech Performance and many others think otherwise, theres just no winning with these guys.
Apparently this is ruining a car.

And GMHTP's take on it...
Its exactly the way I want it. Its just pure ignorance. I enjoy the car and take VERY good care of it. Absolutely nothing was half-assed on it. The whole car has been gone through and a lot of hard work and money went into it. It has a cam/head/full bolt-on/nitrous setup with a built RPM transmission and LS7 clutch among many other things. The shortblock was the only drivetrain part left in the car at one point.
Its not something you see everyday, but on the other hand, its far from ruined in my opinion. Appearance wise it hasnt been touched...
Oh well... I try to avoid these guys because some usually have smart *** comments to say to me, or feel the need to express their opinions, but at the end of the day, its perfect in my eyes, and I enjoy it. I wouldnt mind joining a club, but this one definately aint for me!
Thanks for letting me rant.

This is why I don't belong to clubs. Be it Corvette, BMW, Harley Davidson etc. Many believe that their ""stuff" don't stink and mine is better than yours or only factory stock is good. And, BTW, I am an old fart and have seen this go on for the 50 years that I've been driving or riding. And at the end of the day, who cares. If you have what you want from cars to homes to family to bikes (not necessarily in that order), who cares what others think or say! They are definitely not friends nor folks who count.

I thought Corvettes were built to be modified? Wasn't that the whole intention when they were developed? I think that's why they are made of fiberglass, in fact I am relatively sure of it.
Oh and I'm an old guy who mods the crap out of anything, tastefully and sort of on the inconspicuous side. All I can say is I loves me some horsepower.
Your car is absolutely perfect!

i'm kind of a leave it stock guy myself. BUT there is a reason for it. i've raced, built and destroyed too many cars. too much money. leaving cars stock for me is a $$$ and reliability thing.
some older guys who obsess over factory correct are completely in a different camp. it's probably most famous in 60s muscle cars where 100% oe is the hot ticket. lot of muscle car lovers also like corvettes. it's not even isolated to domestic cars anymore though. collectible imports like the integra type r which was a limited production track ready compact will fetch nearly 20k stock with low mileage. they only sold for 22-24k brand new in the 97-01 period they were produced. if you have a modified one? cut the price in half regardless

Melting Slicks
How is that ruined?? It looks like a bone stock zo6. Just a little more pep under the hood. Maybe they are mad because they spent $80k+ on theirs and it has less power.

Thanks guys. I just stopped going to shows and kept to cruising. Hoping to come back next spring with ~750rwhp. 408ci LSX engine and a ton of spray!
Not going to throw out and names... But it's the club here in Rochester that only let's corvettes in. lol

I ruin everything I get, but my club knows it and doesn't care. I know there are people who think GM built the perfect car and doing anything to it freaks them out. Just think about that first guy who bought a Model T in black and then threw some leftover barn red paint on it! You know they chased him around town trying to stop his madness, and everybody talked behind his back...tisk, tisk, tisk, did you hear about poor "johnny"? he went crazy and made his Model T Red for crying out loud!
