Is there a corvette stereotype?
I told a friend on mine i'm think about buying a corvette and she said she would never date anyone that drives a corvette. I've also heard women refer to guys who drive corvettes as "gay". Whats with the stereotype? I'm 30 years old and currently single and really want to buy my first vette. To me, a corvette is the ultimate iconic american muscle car! Do you guys ever encounter this stereotype? Would my car be less gay if it sounded like a bumble bee and was made in some south pacific country?

1. My wife ran off with my best friend, and I miss him.
2. If you want to keep your beer real cold, put it next to my ex-wife's heart.
3. My wife should have been in real estate, 'cause she gives away lots.
4. I'm not man enough to fight your man of the week.
5. I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
6. Get your bisquits in the oven and your buns in the bed.
8. My face is leaving in five minutes and you'd better be (pick one: kissin' it, or on it).
And a bunch of others which, if written here, would probably result in the censors gleeping this post.
All of those tunes are (or at least used to be) found on juke boxes in honky tonks all over (but mostly in west) Texas.
Sorry to hear that after you gave her the ring, she gave you the finger. But...if you get your dog back you should be just fine.

Maybe she is more into toothless rednecks driving rusty jacked up 4x4's? I personally think a Corvette projects sucess and young at heart and healthy attitute. Some people talk before their brain is in gear and she sound like a good example. Rob

No one is dictating what kinda of car i'm getting, i'm definitely getting a vette. I was just wondering if anyone else runs into this type of stereotype. I don't care what anyone else thinks, i'm gonna be in a vette real soon!

RULE #2. You are not buying the car for her, you are buying it for you.
RULE #3. The only "gay" sports car, is the one that is more fitting for a woman. ie: Mazda Miata covertible.
And lastly, if she is subtly hinting that "I would never date YOU if you buy a COrvette" that is just a selfish woman's way of thinking you will never have enough money to spend on her.
In all cases, ditch the bitch and get the Vette!
Case and Point: One of my EX-GFs said the same crap when I was buying a Porsche. Even at the dealership, she embarrasses me and says I don't know what you need a second car...It' snot like your first one is broke down....I really don't see a need for you to get this....Do you REALLY need this that bad?" I told her to "Would you shut up, I am not buying it for you, I am buying it for me." Her famous last words then were "The girlfriend will always be there, the car won't." I dumped her two months later due to her arrogant, selfish, ANNOYING attitude. Although I did trade the Porsche 2 years later, it surely outlasted that pain in the ***. Oh by the way, I traded it in on a Vette!!!
Now, GO GO GO GO GO
