What's happening to "the wave?"
Took the top off (the car's), and went into AR today. Not ONE wave today!!!! Geesh! Granted, only saw 4 other vettes (and they were all C5's), but is the wave becoming extinct??? Are so many "new" owners getting into C5's and they don't know about the tradition??

I think in a lot of cases, the cost of a Vette has become so reasonable that new owners have no clue as to the wave tradition since they may not have owned a Vette before. I am noticing the same thing happening up here - I wave and no wave in return. Just the way it is. I do my part and that's about all I can do.

saving the wave
Come on up to Ontario Canada , we will wave at you . Hoping to get vette out of hibernation next weekend . When my wife and I go for a drive she is the spotter , we both wave , have been doing this since we got our first vette in 1972. Save the wave its fun .

I get such a kick out of how upset some people get over this, just visit some motorcycle forums and it's even funnier! The Kitchen appliance guys are gonna throw a hissy too, cause on the way out of wal-mart they gave the wave to other toaster owners and guess what?....no freakin wave!
If I'm driving, riding, walking I usually toss a hand up or say some pleasentry. It by NO MEANS gets me upset if someone else is busy paying attention to the road or whatever activity they are doing and don't fall all over themselves to just MAKE ME FEEL BETTER!
It ain't no secret handshake, secret code thing, decoder ring in a cereal box thang!

Well, the way I see it . . . you have Corvette Enthusiasts and Corvette owners. Just about anybody can buy a Corvette, but that doesn't make them an enthusiast. They are new to the Corvette lifestyle and aren't accustomed to the tradition of waving at other vettes. They will either join the enthusiasts and start waving or just stay an owner and ignore the other vettes on the road. Don't take it personally if they don't wave back. I've been waving at other vettes for 36 years or so, but have to admit, I've missed a few waves myself. Just wave, smile and keep on rolling.

Ya, I only saw two on my little spin today, which was relatively short, but neither one obeyed the wave protocol...(C3 and a C4). Normally, I am about 95%.....

Got four waves today out cruising. One more return wave came when I was in my truck! The wave is still very much alive in Oklahoma!
