Convertible; lock or not? Also, question about top.
Three questions:
1) I recently bought a 2000 yellow Corvette. When I drove my old Miata, I never locked it. Figured I rather have someone pilfer around rather than cut the top (I never kept anything inside). But what what do you guys do about your Vettes; lock or keep unlocked?
2) I don't like the fact that if somebody does break into the car, or if the top is down, they can hit the trunk button and open it. Anyway to disable the unlock button unless you have the key in ignition or something like that?
3) The back top corner of the door glass goes over the top instead of under the drip edge. Once I get in car, I have to put window down, then up to keep out wind noise. Anybody else had this problem?

I would keep it locked, leaving it unlocked is going to leave the alarm off.
And do you really want somebody messing around inside all night?
Transients love to take dumps in fancy cars.....
'nuff said.
And explain all the damage to the inside of your car to the insurance company after you tell them you left it unlocked, good luck.
If they cut the top, thats what insurance is for.

Taking a dump in it? OK, I'll keep it locked; that did it for me.
As far as adjusting the top or the glass, is there a link to that somewhere?

Even when I park with the top down I lock the car. It arms the system and keeps people from digging into my trunk. If someone wants to mess with your ride, they're going to do it regardless of locked or not.

I've heard it said that locks only keep honest people out of your things. That being said, a lock does slow down the entry by a determined criminal, and an enabled alarm / security system will make that criminal feel pressured to abandon his actions once activated.

I always lock mine. If they want to get in it they will, but why make it easy for them. I have comprehensive coverage on the car for a reason.

When the car is locked, the trunk button on the dash is disabled. At least with the top down it is, I didn't try with the top up.

For the #3 question on the top, look at this. I think it's on page 7, but you'll recognize the picture of the same issue you're having.

I lock mine because it makes me feel better knowing I'm not providing the insurance company any loopholes while also recognizing a pro car thief can work around the defense.

Thanks 65GGvert for the information on the top/window adjustment. Also good to hear that trunk button is disabled with top down and door locked; makes sense and makes me feel better about it. Thanks everyone for your comments regarding locking doors; makes sense to me.

I lock mine and raise the windows even when the top is down.
I recommend you get a Window Valet.
With a Window Valet you can raise your windows remotely from your factory keyfob. That way it is simple to lock the doors and raise the windows even when the top is down as you walk away from the car.
And when the top is up, you can remotely lower /raise the windows so you can more conveniently operate the folding top.
