Default Roll bar, Roll cage, what and where to get?

Hey guys, I'm looking for your suggestions. I want to put a roll bar or roll cage in my 02 coupe. I'm leaning more towards the roll bar since I'm not running at the track every weekend. It's more of a weekend warrior, and occasionally I hit the quarter mile. Anyways, what cages do you guys suggest? Which ones have worked for you? I've been looking at the wolfe racecraft cages. But I don't really know where else to look. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

Since you said you mostly do street cruising I would think just getting a harness bar would be all you want. There are differing opinions on driving on the street with a cage. A cage is safest when you run with full harness which is illegal on the street. I would double check your local laws about having a cage in a street car. Also is the fact that you would have to climb over a cage everytime you drive around on the street which may not be fun after a few times!

Hi Brian.
Check with Steve Woods.
He's a Platinum Supporting Vendor, here on the forum.
Go to his online site & check out his many items for our Corvettes, to include his specially designed roll bars.
He too owns a C/5 Corvette & I might add "It's Very Fast!!"
RSD RaceSpcialty Designs.

Good luck... & oh, I like the color of your coupe.

I don't know the manufacturer of my roll bar cause I bought used from another guy. BUT I didn't want the extra hassel of getting a roll cage and dealing with the door bars. Like you I don't race the car and just joyride since the dragstrip closed up here. Maybe someone can tell who made this roll bar cause it's very well made and constructed.

Edited to say....very well made, BUT a REAL PAIN to install.

I just installed a Wolf 4 point a couple of months ago. The bar was easy to install and got a great deal going thru Wolf. I bought Wolf roll cages for some of the F-Body's we've owned in the past and never had a problem with any of them.

The RSD NHRA Legal Bolt in Roll Bar installs easily in about 4 hours without a lift with basic tools. The RSD Bolt in Roll Bar is a complete bolt in roll bar that meet NHRA rules and is legal just as it comes. When installed the RSD Roll Bar still allows for top storage in the stock location.. Check them out here; http://www.racespecialtydesigns.com/product.php?productid=126&cat=83&page=1

What is the difference between the 5 and 6 points?

I understand this is designed for drag racing but would this be beneficial for road course applications? I only do HPDE and am looking for a little more safety. My concern is if the car happens to roll will this particular cage hold up?

In regards to fitting, are your shoulders really close or on the door bars? I know this isn't really a concern for drag racing but wondering if my shoulders would begin to lean up against the bar during hard cornering.

Thanks for any input!
