Not one person has removed the moldings and later regretted the move. Interesting

If you are really undecided, just put one side on. Ride around and you have the best of both worlds.......

Are they just for LOOKS, or do they protect the door from getting banged in parking lots ... ?

Did GM put them on EVERY C5 ?

My 02 TR Paint & BSM's still match perfect color(fwtw)

Did you know they make the vette go faster, like the hood seal does !!!

If I were you, I would have taken a picture of the car first, then photoshopped the BSM out and see if you like it then with your own car.

They are not that hard to put back on, unless you destroyed them, all you need is the 3M automotive double adhesive tape.

If you have destroyed them, I am sure you can find a lot of them floating around from guys that have removed them.
I've got a set for sale white too

They were listed as an option on my 98. As far as protecting the doors, I think they are too low to protect the doors from the SUV's and minvans of the world.

When I bought my C5 I didn't even know body side moldings were a factory option, then I started to notice some C5's had them and mine didn't. After buying a used set from a forum member, cleaning, repainting and installing (3M tape) I now have a $75 option that cost me over $200 and it was money well spent.

The comment about detailing a car without them is a valid point and the only one I ever considered prior to installing them on my car.

BUT, there have been people that bought cars without them and wanted them. It breaks up that giant expanse of flatness on the sides and helps some with knotheads in parking lots.

Guess I'll put my two cents in. My AE had bsm and I think it looked best with them on that car. I sold that car about 5 yrs. ago. November last year I bought a 4000 mi. 02 vert yellow with no bsm. I thought I would just add them later. Now that I am getting used to the look I do feel it does have a cleaner sportier look, and I'm liking it. For now I'm leaving them off. And then again when I had the AE red I didn't care much for yellow ether. lol.....

The corvette is the only $50k plus car with bsms. Ferrari,Lamborghini, and others shy away from them. Not sure why just an observation.

Audi puts them on their sedans but not their coupes.

I've seen Torch Red vettes with and without and I can't quite make up my mind as to which I prefer. Only thing is, I've had to replace the one on the left door as it was torn all to hell by someone opening their door into the side of my car. Hate to even think of what the door would have looked like without the BSM having been there. I really like the looks of Mr. Bill's after he removed his, but I'm still not sure...

Default Added them

When I bought my car it did not have them. I got a forum member to give me a set and for the $25 it cost for the 3M tape I put them on myself. A dealer quoted me $500 to add them!!!!

Now 11 years later - they are still as solid as if it came that way from the factory. The decision to have them or not is personal - I just mention my situation that you can know that if you do add them back on - they will stay put for the long haul.

Brake dust sheilds off, wheels chromed, new rotors, lowered, BSM added
