Default Gauge Bezel and Trim Rings - INSTALLED!!

I finally got around to installing the gauge trim rings and hydrocarbon gauge cluster bezel that has been sitting on the bench for about a year now. One of my customers' (Jack Tipton) offered to do it for me but I had some time off over the holidays and tackled the job myself. It is a very easy install. One trick I learned about the trim rings is to get the flow control superglue so that you can just put a pin point sized drop on several places while holding the ring in your hand. Then all you have to do is put it in place and hold it for a few seconds. No mess. Steering wheel is next (It also has been sitting on the bench for a year) Stay tuned

Very nice mod
I liked the rings when I had them on my old 97, but even though I used good super glue, my rings would fall off after a few months, especilly in cold weather.

Not sure why that was.

Looks great - too bad the C5 didn't come with them on the car from the factory.

That is indeed "the trick" and perhaps because I am a member of the "mechanically challenged" crowd, I found this part difficult and ultimately messed it up. I'd like to add that also, you need to be extremely careful to not get the glue on your finger tips which then will end up where ever your finger tips land.

You did a nice job. If you're for hire to re-do mine, send me a PM.

C5 Gauge cluster mods, are, to me, one of the most rewarding interior mods. I have done two (my '99, and my wife's '01) and they turned out great. Thanks to the abundance of info here, I had almost no difficulty in doing them myself.
Congratulations on a job well done.

Wife's '01. Faces, trim rings, and painted cluster/dash housing.

My '99. Painted entire cluster/dash housing.

Prep with denatured alcohol is the key to the rings staying on forever...pinpointing the super glue is the other key.

Had the same thing happen to me on a bumpy road, I searched the forums here and seems like this is a somewhat common issue with the super glue. The recommended fix was to use black silicone adhesive, it maintains it flexibility. Did that a couple of years ago and so far no issues.
