I don't even look at my speedo unless I see a cop

I really like it and I use it half the time...the other half on the guages but don't not buy a gem of a vette because it doesn't have it

Nope not prescription, just high end Revo glasses that are polarized. If you have a polarized lens it will dim the HIS by probably 75% or so. So in the day, it is mostly impossible to see....unless a black van stops in front of me or something like that.

Here is my take on the HUD, if you are rowing the gears the ability to drive without taking your eyes off the road make it a must have option in my book

And what exactly would you know about performance driving?

If you find a car you like, HUD is not a must but a nice bonus if it has it. Mine doesn't have it, but I don't have to worry about it not working.

I don't care that I don't have it.

+1 the HUD is invisible with polarized glasses. It bugs me that it sits so low even when adjusted in the full-up position. I used to think it's something I would want, but decided after driving a few that it wasn't a deal-breaker not to have it.

I really like having the HUD.

I wouldn't buy a Vette without one.

I think liking the HUD comes down to if you wear cheap sunglasses or polarized glasses. Or that's how I see it.
Polarized sunglasses are actually a tremendous annoyance for a lot of outdoor applications. I purposely got one pair of sunglasses without polarized lenses because I have to use a tablet computer outdoors for work, and the polarized lenses horribly distort the image (they also make weird patterns when looking through UV-shielded glass too, like the side windows of the car, make it hard to read LCD clock faces, LCD dials (like the readout on my coffee maker when I'm out the door to work) or LCD gauges on anything.

Take it easy on Steve,,he probably STILL has some aching joints the the ol bod!! I'll bet he still wasn't squinting into the HUD on the Texas mile though!! As I recall somewhere around 190ish!! As for me,,on the strip I go 80% by ear and just use a quick glance at the tach just before redline and pull a shift. Side note,,the LS1 reeves a LOT quicker than my big block,,and the first pass in the FRC got carried away and hit the rev limiter in 1,2&3,,after that pass I learned!! Hope you're back to 100% Steve!!You decide to get another C5 ,or are you modding the C6 now??

I flew back seat in fighter aircraft all my life and I always coveted the fact that the pilot had a HUD and I had to watch it on my TV displays. When the Vette was delivered with a HUD it was a happy day

It's by no means essential but I just love having the information easily visible. I find it invaluable for keeping to speed limits in towns and villages. The rev counter is another useful function for me. Can't say I use the other functions much though.

Unlike others, I seem to have been lucky on serviceability and it's more than bright enough during the day.

Its certainly a talking point and most other enthusiasts are impressed that its fitted.

HUD was not something I wanted. I drove several friends cas with HUD. With no glare sunglasses (polarized ) you don't see the HUD.

Installed HUD a couple of years ago. It was a waste of time and money for me. I hardly ever use it.

I also think the dash pad looks better without the HUD bezel on it.

I don't have it so I don't miss it. I love the gauge package on the C5. It was the primary reason I went with a C5 over a C4.

I bet if I had a HUD I'd love it too.
