Default ceramic brake pads

Just got new cray manta wheels for my 03 coupe and already
tired of wiping brake dust. Does anyone have the pros and cons
of ceramic pads and do they help with dust

Yes they do help with dust, and yes they don't stop as good (fade quicker), normal driving not an issue, if you take it to the track then pass.....

I have Raybestos Quiet Stops and they help a bunch with the dust. I really don't notice any decrease in stopping distance either.

Ceramics here much less dust IMO w/them. Ran chrome & now black wheels & they stay pretty clean. I use old sport socks on my hand to clean the wheels...

Same here. Stops fine at the track too.
You won't find a totally dust free pad.

I have Hawk ceramics and yes they put out less dust. Also the dust they put out isn't as black as the regular pads. More of a darker gray and they make my chrome wheels look like black chrome when dirty.

As others have said: If you race then pass on the ceramics as they do fade faster.

I used Delco Ceramic Pads, they stop lousey and warped my rotors, but dusted very little and it was white colored dust.

I went with Hawk HPS pads, love them.

Default problems with fade

I have been running Satisfied Pro Ceramic pads with ATE slotted rotors for the past two years. Minimum dust and they stop well. About two months after I installed the pads and rotors my club went to Vermont where we paid to close the access road going up to the summit of Mt. Equinox. On the trip down , many of the cars pulled over to let the brakes cool but I had no problems with fade. I'm happy!

My main issue I found with ceramics on my last car was the lack of stopping power when cold. It would take a few stops before they got up to the right temp range to be really effective. Once they were warmed up they stopped almost as good as my yellow stuff pads did but they had a narrow temp window because after a lap or 2 at the track they faded bad and were useless. If the vette is a daily driver I would say go for it. If its a weekend car then I would stay away and just clean it more.

Carbotech 1521's here and they are great pads. I tried the AC Delco Ceramics and threw them in the trash after bout 1k miles. Hated everything about them. Ran HP pads and the dust was HUGE. Carbotech 1521's work great with very little dust that is non-corrosive so it wont tear up your wheels.
