Default Plasti-Dip Lower Rear Fascia

Guys:

Here is how easy this stuff comes off.

Here is what the spray can looks like (Lowes)

Here is what I did to my car. When I get bored with the look I can just peal it back off.....

I used white electrical tape to mask off the area I wanted covered (any color will work)...

I cleaned the area to be covered with Simple Green. I learned a long time ago this stuff takes Zaino off...

Looks great! How hard was it to shape the electrical tape into a nice contour?

Makes it is easy when your using GHL exhaust to turn them down like that. Nice job. Be interesting to see if the plasti-dip holds up to the heat next to the pipes.

Looks good! I see some pumpkins in your garage -- how about Plasti-Dippin' them??

PS -- Happy to see you've beaten back the spoiler craving.

Thanks everyone ! I'll keep it on there a little while. See how I feel about it after a couple weeks. I love the fact that you can "un-do" it with no adverse side effects.

Surprisingly not hard at all. I just had a bright light shining on the rear end, (looking closely at the contour) and held the tape roll up in the air about 12 or so inches away from the point of contact. I slowly changed the angle, and pressed down on the contact point a little at a time. I watched Chip Foose do it on TV a bunch of times....

That stuff sure looks good on your car. And nice that if you decide to change the look, it can peel right off.

It looks really good on your car, Toque, but I have outgrown the "black lower bumper" fad. I was going to do mine, but I didn't want to look like I was pretending to have a diffuser or something back there. Does that make sense? I have stainless rear bumper vent screens, too, and they would stand out like sore thumbs if my bumper was black. My taillights and reverse lights are tinted, and I think that is enough black in the back. I think my car visually looks lower when the bumper is all silver, too.

Now I am just rambling. LOL

Your not rambling at all. I know exactly what you mean. I like to tinker with my car. I always like to test myself ... "Can I do it?". I guess its the engineer in me. That's why I will be showing how to remove it in a few weeks. I will add that to my web site too...

i did this to the front fascia on the brake duct intakes (where the fogs are) and after several months of very spirited driving, a couple of road trips, etc, it's hanging in there just fine. ill admit i'm kind of surprised. i suspected this would peel off with the wind hitting the front. i'd imagine it'd be a one-time application to the back, barring rocks or something hitting it.

Looks good. I have been toying with the idea of doing my Torch Red coupe, but just could not pull the trigger on applying paint to it. The Plasti-Dip looks like the way to go.
One question, how soon did you remove the tape that you used to do the contour line? I was planning to use a silver 1/4" pin stripe tape to get a clean line and than use the blue painters tape to mask the car off. I heard that the contour line tape needs to come off almost as soon as you are done spraying so it does not cause the Palsti-Dip to peel off while removing.
