Default The old C5 still has it-Heres my story, whats yours?

So as we all know, the general public does not know much about cars. However, I had a AT&T guy come over to replace a battery in the garage for U-verse. While he was working on it, he looked at my car and asked my wife "OMG. is that a ZR1 Corvette? That thing is bad azz!" My wife replied, "No its not. It's a C5 Z06 thats supercharged." She said he couldnt stop staring at it. He then asked, "Man, how fast have you been in it?" She replied, "Fast enough."

Heres the car:
Video (the camera couldnt pick up noise well, oh well):

Please post your story of what your car has been mistaken for and post up a picture and/or a video

A friend and I were standing out back at work once and a C5 rolled by in the parking lot and he exclaimed "Nice Firebird!".

I educated him.

I get the same thing when someone sees my Z06 in my garage (phone guy, electrician...etc...etc).

"OMG is that a new Corvette ? "

The look on there face when I tell them its almost 8 years old is priceless....

I can honestly say that gets better with age. My 12 year old car still gets plenty of attention from people thinking its fairly new

Years ago friends at work referred to my car as the Camaro. I knew it was a joke and they still do it to this day.

I get the same response by people - "Wow, nice car, what year is it"? When I say it's a 1999 C5, they are floored Most people that don't know Vettes will think it's new. Makes me feel good...because I keep it clean, like new.

Default I know the feeling

I haven't had anyone confuse my C5, yet. However when I describe my deTomaso Pantera the typical question is: is that like the Delorean? I try not to puke on them.

I came home in my 06 Mercedes Benz E350 one night. There were two late teen aged guys sitting out in front of their house. I got out, locked up, and one of the guys asks, "Hey, how much did you pay for that car?" I didn't hear him well, so I asked him to repeat. Both of them replied, "How much was that car?" I told them "Under $20k."

They came over and we started chatting, and they said, "Man, this is one of the tightest cars in the neighborhood. This one and the Corvette over there under the cover; man that thing is BAD AZZ!!" I replied, "That's mine too." The both got the look on their faces, and said "Man, you've got the two hottest cars in the neighborhood! What do you do to afford them both?" I said, "I buy smart. I paid a lot less than they were worth."

I told them the Vette is a 2001 and they freaked... "Man, that's gotta be like low mileage, right?" When I told them it's got 108k miles, they both said, "Man it looks like new!"

Kinda cool to be that guy in the neighborhood!

I have had several people tell me congrats on the new car when they see my Corvette. They ask if it is a 2011 and are amazed when I tell them it is a 2003 with 91,000 miles on it.
I guess Corvettes are timeless to some people. I love it.

I had a replica '65 Cobra. At gas stations and the burger joint lot I was asked either...

a) is that a Corvette?

or...

b) is that a Ferarri?

Ive had mine about a month now, and being warm weather people ride with their windows down. When I catch a light almost always somebody says something like, nice ride. What i ve really noticed is im looking for someplace to go just to get to drive it,lol. I hope that feeling never changes, its so enjoyable to drive.
