If you can't use the tool that came with the repair kit, purchase a small thin vise grip wrench. That will work for you.

What "repair kit"? I thought it was instructional only mod/fix. What does this kit offer?

You can purchase a repair kit for the C5 sliding seat problem. About $25.00 per seat. You can get the kits from corvette central, mid-america corvettes and vendors here on the forum. A tool comes with the kits for taking that T40 bolt off but sometimes it takes a pair of small vise grips to get it off.

The kits have nylon bushings to replace the oem bushing that wear out and a tool.

Definitely not an instructional-only fix. You either need the nylon blocks or make your own using nylon washers. Where did you see these instructions?

As for the T40 bolt, not sure what to tell you, mine came right out with a 3/8" ratchet and T40 socket. It might be loctited, maybe a little heat or some PB blaster might help?

Thanks for the clarification on the kit. I purchased a similar set of nylon square plugs from The RadioFlyer instead of using nylon washers. Hit kit did not come with the Torx head wrench, however per my other thread on the Rocking Seat Fix, GM changed the torx bolts between 2001 and 2004. I own a 2004, and I need a female torx socket to remove them. Since I will probably only have to use these sockets one time, I found a set from Harbor Freight for less than $8.
