Congratulations! The C6 Z06's are awesome cars but I have to have a removable top so it's would be a GS Coupe or Vert. If that is not an issue for you then definitely a C6 Z06.

[QUOTE=gwalker;1578336351]So I am still grinning. I won a 2011 Corvette last night at a charity event. It is a automatic stock coupe, not really what I want.

I know just how you feel...I won a t-shirt once.

Congratulations!

But as others here have cautioned, be sure of your tax obligations -- federal, state, local. Government does not allow its citizens to obtain anything without sucking in all the 'revenue' it can. Your obligation my be minimal or nasty enough that you have to sell the car to pay the income taxes.

I sure hope you can keep it, though!!

Go for the Z06, but only if your wife agrees. But after taxes and the difference in price you may be better off driving the freebie (so to speak)

jim

If it was me I'd keep the charity car.

It's safe to say I am feeling a bit of hate-envy towards u right now. Id keep it and throw a supercharger on it, new rims, better suspension and drive it!!

Congrats!!

Well I wouldnt keep it if it wasnt the car you want, its not like "owning a vette" is anything "new" to you .

So basicaly, you won (at worst case) 40k . . . dude, thats a good night

You have room for another vette inside (I mean for a Z)?

Consult your taxman before making up your mind. I'm coming into a windfall in October and my tax consultant told me to make sure I spoke with him before I accepted the deal. Just protect yourself so you're not forced to spend money instead of being a full blown winner. Anyhow congrats!! My favorite color too.

Thanks all for the words of congratualtions.

Red has never been a car color for me or an automatic, so most likely it will be sold or traded. Already have a fellow forum member interested in it.

After reading comments, I have already emailed my accountant and hope to have good answers from her tomorrow. I was going to pick it up today but not having insurance and all these new questions, I just decided to let it sit there until I know for sure what will happen.

If I were to guess, it will be a C6 Z06 with a few miles on it so I can walk away with paying nothing after taxes, etc. Of course if the taxes are too high, I can always get a great C5 Z.

Well, since you asked, go to the GM Corvette dealer, do a trade in for the C6 vette with 6 speed manual, then sorry to say this, go to the Corvette Forum and log into the C6 forum and move on from the best older C5 Corvette Forum... Lucky dog...

Let us know what your bean counter sez. I'm curious to learn about the tax ramifications (if any).

And again, congrats!!!

Another vote for sell it and get a C6 Z06... Don't trade it in on one; you'll lose a lot of money that way.

CONGRATS!
