My first Vette and a Z06!!
Well I been wanting one for years and years and finally came to a juncture in my life where it was feasible and had a cool enuff wife to give me the green light. I still cant wipe the smile off my face. Anyway its a 2002 model Quicksilver Z06 with 55K miles on it. Originally a Florida car then bought at 19k miles and garage kept by a 59 y/o man and then sold to a guy around Austin, Texas. He only kept it like 3 months and put it up for sale to fund a new business. So technically Im the 4th owner. Its not perfect but its still very nice. I tracked down the Florida owner of the car and spoke to him about it before I bought it. He said the car had some synchros in the tranny giving him some issues so he had a RPM level 5 tranny put in, Halltech CAI installed and 3.90 gears put in the rear. Always ran Royal Purple in everything to boot. Other than that all stock. Has some normal vette issues....driver seat wore, couple of rock chips on nose, climate control light out and A/C blend doors acting up. Other than that she runs like a raped ape and is a blast to drive. Here is the only pic I have so far, little dirty from the drive home. One question. He said the wheels on it were special ordered stock but cant seem to find anything that says that was an option. They are 18" rear and 17" fronts. Any idea what the deal with them is and how wide they are? Tires are 275/40-18 rear and 265/40-17 front. Will need rear tires soon and these seem a little small to what most are running.....at least as to what Ive seen. Whatcha guys think?

Congrats on the ride. It's beautiful.
Make sure to put some wider rubber on your rear wheels.
Also, do a tune-up immediately....better be safe than sorry.

Congrats on the C5. It looks good
Those wheels are from a base coupe or aftermarket reproductions. That story was made up.
Z06s came with 17x9.5 and 18x10.5 rims which used 265/40-17 and 295/35-18 sized tires.

Ok so base coupe wheels. What width would they be? The tire that are on it fit the wheels nicely. I have records of a tuneup but can't remember when it was an I'm at work for a week an didn't bring the paper work. It does have MSD plug wires an oil looks clean an oil life shows 97%.

Congrats! Looks like about 4 or 5 of us got "new" Vettes over the weekend, mine won't get here from Minnesota for some days, but I'm still excited as a I was with my first car, 52 years ago! Hahaha... (Pix on a thread called "I finally got one!") I think you should not depend on what anyone tells you about your car, take it somewhere you trust and have them go over it with a fine-tooth comb. Mine has only 13 hundred miles and that's what I'm gonna do, no mistakes, it's still an old car... things like hoses, belts, tires, brake lines, etc., all age and depending on the climate, rot slower or faster. I'd rather spend a little more now, than have something fail when I'm riding around a hairpin curve in the Rockies (10 miles from my house). But, I'm also gonna enjoy the heck out of it, you do the same!

Going to tint shop when I get home for some Lumar tint. Shorty antenna coming soon also an get the A/C lined out. Wana cam it an open up the exhaust some an that will probably be it for awhile. Thought about FI for while but I really don't see how you could keep it on the road.

Very nice Z06 you got there. I like Silver too
Get a set of OEM Z06 rims, or what ever aftermarket wheel you like. The stock C5 wheels can be greatly improved on.
The stock Z06 wheels that came with your car should look like this below.

Congrats on the new vette it looks great!
The wheels look like the thin-spokes that came on my 04 coupe, but yours appear to have been painted or powdercoated black. If they were a special order at the dealer/factory, which is doubtful, whoever took the order needs their head examined. I think it's more likely that something happened to the stock wheels at some point and someone got a set of those thinspokes and slapped them on. If I were you, I'd be very tempted to trade those out.

I like the black wheels and not really concerned at this point what they came from. Im not a huge fan of the factory Z wheels even PC'd black. I got exactly what I wanted a Quicksilver Z06 with black wheels. Does anyone know the width of the ones on my car right now?? Not trying to bash anyone on here and everyone has there opinion but I like the wheels personally. If I had everything done to the car I wanted to and had an abundance of cash laying around I would consider changing them out but its not even a distant thought at the moment.

I believe your wheels are 8.5" in front and 9.5" in back (if they're factory thin-spokes they are). The reason that I would be tempted to upgrade if I were you was the same reason I was tempted to upgrade mine - TIRE SIZE. The factory wheel width on a Z06 was larger (17x9.5 and 18x10.5) and therefore accomodates wider aspect ratio tires. Wider tires make for more grip.
