Traction control comp mode question- 2000 and older
I have a 2000 mn6 coupe. When placing the traction control onto the "competitive driving" mode, I bring the car to a complete stop, and hold the traction control button for 5 seconds. I cannot do this if I am driving/moving last I checked, at that point I only have the option to either turn the traction control completely off, or leave it completely on.
I think they did something in 2001 and newer where you can put the corvette's traction control in competitive mode while driving but I have to be at a complete stop for mine last I checked. Is there anyway around this for a 2000/older c5? Aftermarket kit or something? Change a setting in the computer?

Car's been running pretty tip-top otherwise. I'm taking a short vacation pretty soon (beginning of next month) and planning on hitting up either sac raceway or infineon at least once before getting my knee scoped next month (I'll be out of commission for a lil while ). I'm planning on running it in the current trim: street tires/stock clutch and goal is at least one 11 sec slip. I'll post something in the norcal forum before I head up and drop u a pm also.

No way to get around it that I know of. At least no one has posted a solution that I've seen.

I'm not sure what the z51 package is, i don't have it. I do have f45 selective handling which it may have been one or the other.
Anyone know why we don't have competitive driving mode?

My 99 has it (Competition mode), and you are correct, I can only "activate" it stopped and holding down the button for 5-7 seconds. Read pages 4-10 and 4-11 in the manual and could only find that it was optional.

my 00 doesnt have competition mode. It only has traction control. I am guessing because it is a z51. Does the car have to have active handling before it gets the competition mode setting?

To answer a couple of questions:
Active Handling was a seperate option in 2000. It is not part of the Z51 package.
I have a module called an TracActive Controller from LapTrax Inc. that I wired into the BCM. This allows me to start the car in 1 of 3 different modes of operation. Mine is setup to start the car in Competition Mode. It can also be programed to start in All Aids Off Mode which disables Traction Control and Active Handling and in Passive Mode which disables the controller and starts the car in factory default mode.
With this module regardless of operating mode, you can still change the status of the Traction Control and/or Active Handling system at any time by pressing the factory Traction Control/Active Handling switch located on the center console.

I have this option. Does it turn the TC completely off, or just make it a little less intrusive? I thought (I could very easily be wrong on this) though that it changed the math in the active handling to allow a little bit of slide in the rear for hard cornering, but not a complete drift or anything. And also allowed for less TC, but still keeping some in there. Again, I could very easily be wrong.
