Default How about OnStar in a C5? Now Installing OnStar FMV

If you have not seen this yet, well let me be the first to tell you.
We are now authorized to perform installs on the new OnStar FMV

This is a new mirror from Onstar that will replace your current mirror and add OnStar to your C5 or any other vehicle for that matter

At this point this will be install only untill I can see about sending these units out via internet orders.

Just thought I would share something new as an option for those who might like OnStar.

Call or email for more info to have is install this in your C5 for you!

DETROIT – With the consumer launch of OnStar’s new retail product, OnStar FMV (For My Vehicle), this summer, excitement is growing surrounding the expanded availability of the telematics service for more than 90 million vehicles on the road.
OnStar FMV is a rearview mirror that delivers the core features that have made OnStar the most trusted and popular in-vehicle safety, security and convenience service on the market today, with more than 6 million active subscribers.
To help consumers determine whether their current vehicle is compatible with OnStar FMV, OnStar has launched an online compatibility tool called “Vehicle Selector”. The tool allows users to enter in basic vehicle information, like make, model and year, to see if the upcoming retail product will work on their vehicle. “Vehicle Selector” is available at OnStar.com and the OnStar Facebook page.
“The Vehicle Selector was accessed more than 10,000 times in the first 24 hours of availability,” said Sam Mancuso, chief marketing officer, OnStar. “Since we announced OnStar FMV, consumers have been very interested in whether or not they can get it for their vehicle. Now they only have to visit OnStar.com and there’s a simple tool they can use to find out, and they can even sign up to receive updates on when OnStar FMV will be available in their area.”
To date, OnStar has validated 90 million vehicles manufactured in the last 10 years as compatible with OnStar FMV – up from 55 million when the product was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January

OnStar FMV features include:

  • Automatic Crash Response
  • 24/7 Emergency Services
  • Turn-by-Turn Navigation
  • Stolen Vehicle Location Assistance
  • Roadside Assistance
  • Hands-Free Calling, through OnStar or a Bluetooth connection
OnStar FMV will be available later this summer at all Best Buy stores, OnStar’s first strategic retail partner - with onsite installation – and at other consumer electronics retailers. OnStar FMV will carry a suggested retail price of $299. Installation, which consists of replacing the existing rearview mirror with OnStar FMV, is expected to take less than an hour and cost no more than $100 in most vehicles. A range of service plans will be available for OnStar FMV, starting at $18.95 a month or $199 a year.

For more information on OnStar FMV or the “Vehicle Selector”, visit www.onstar.com

Hmmm my post was deleted. All I said was it is nothing more than a glorified cellphone. The Nav costs extra than the base $199 per year and I posted a link to see if your car will work with it. No map light(just push button) and AFIK not auto dimming.I does have an accelerometer to phone home in an impact.Initially they announced the installation was included in the $299 purchase cost too.

Have Onstar in my Cts and my wife's car. After the free use period I never renewed. Total waste of money. Have a GPS for the vett that will work in all of the cars no fee. In the year it was free I used it a few times. It was easier to use my Garmin

As their add says it is only $299 per year for GPS with turn by turn directions.

Well if they have interior lights instead of map lights and never had Onstar in a GM car to know the difference you might get a lot of other brands coming. GM people not so much...

The comercial I saw on TV showed how they can turn your car off any time they want. I think I will pass on that.

Not with this it has no interface to the onboard computers. That was regular Onstar. This will only phone home in a crash or provide voice NAV AFIK

You can add one to any car now since they released the Onstar Mirror. Problem is the cost of it. I have it in my Escalade and I never use it. I have hundreds of minutes, but I also have a smart phone so they never get used. When it runs out I will not be renewing.
