Post em' if you got em'!

I like the chrome, however hoping for some other ideas instead of the ugly OEM finish and/or covers.

I just used a Dremel with a wire brush attachement and polished mine a bit to clean it up -- with some more time I think the polishing would be a great look.

I think most people for one of the following, Get it chromed, polish it or get one the Alt. covers of stainless or CF. If you don't have it chromed or polish it, they don't look good in the engine bay, especially if you are dressing the engine bay up with bling.

Well I really never thought of it like that, but I will admit is is not the nicest looking area in the engine bay that is why I have gone with the Carbon Fiber covbre until I can take the time to pull it off and polish it and the alt.

I've seen some really nice engine bays (yours included) and they look great with the painted components, carbon fiber, chrome, etc. and the ugly, grey, exposed alternator sticks out like a sore thumb.

There are some nice covers, and although the chrome looks nice, that option is pricey. I like the idea of powdercoating the alternator/bracket, etc. and I'm hoping to see some examples. I saw one powdercoated black and that looked really nice.

What will you do with the alternator? It looks just as bad as the bracket. Will you have it powdercoated as well?

The only problem I had was that after it was powder coated it no longer grounds to the motor. You have to run a separate ground to the alternator.

Interesting, this is the first I've heard of any electrical issues resulting from refinishing the alternator. Does this happen with the chrome finishing as well? I see those for sale on various vendor websites and they don't indicate any modified wiring is required.

The powder coating must act as an insulator which would not happen with the chrome bracket.

you dont need to reground it. you just need to have metal exposed to where it meets the alternator.

Thanks. Just to be clear, I am looking to powder coat both the alternator casing and the bracket. So where would the exposed metal need to be? Inside the alternator shell/casing or the bracket where the alternator connects?
