Default What does a C5 do when the TPS's are taken off?

On this set of Comp Greys I bought, the TPS's have been removed. I'm not going to spend the money to put them back on. I know I used to have an Impala that would worry the crap out of ya with the low tire pressure light flashing. On my 2000 C5, what should I expect and can it be ignored/silenced?

I also have a 2000 and when I started the car it told me to service tire monitor system. Just press the reset button and it goes away. I dont remember any annoying messages that kept coming up.

Its not bad without them

After removing the TPS sensors, the first few times you start up, the DIC will just show no reading for the TPS screens if you toggle to the tire readout display. After a few start-ups without getting a reading, your DIC will display the error message whenever you start up. You can manually reset the message and it won't reappear but you'll need to do it every time you start up.

You could also take it to someone with a TECH2 and have them remove the TPS monitoring system from the electronic checks, and then you won't receive the message anymore.

Not sure how it is on the '00, but on my '01 I got a "Low Tire Pressure" warning for each tire on start-up. I could reset the messages (4X), but they would come back every 10 minutes or so. Just bought & installed some sensors, so no more messages for me. If you're content to run without sensors, I hear the messages can be programmed out of the BCM.

You will get the SERVICE TIRE MON SYS message at start-up, and I can't remember, but you might get it periodically while driving. Hitting RESET will clear the message until it makes it's next appearance. It will not affect the car otherwise.

F.Y.I. - the feature cannot be turned off in the '97-'00 cars.

I myself like the idea of having them installed on my car, It is an extra alert and nice to know if you have a tire getting low. It could save you a lot of grief having them installed.
