Default Virgin Vette owner question?

About to pull the trigger on a ZO6. I'm thinking like a 2002 to 2004 model. What should I look for and which year is the best?
Thanks.

02-04 are all good years for the Z06, however, I believe the transmissions were built a bit stronger in 03-04. Make sure you check the clutch condition very well, as the hydraulics are known to fail. Valve spring failure can also occur in them as well. Good luck with your search...

What was stronger about the 03/04 transmissions?

Here is what I recall.
1. Mid year 02 to early 03 can have valve spring problems.
2. 03 and 04 have gas tank crossover problems. Covered by a recall.
3. 03 and 04 have stronger shift forks in the tranny.

The 02 has the fuel filter outside the fuel tank while the filter is inside the fuel tank for the 03 and 04 models. All of the C5 Z06s are great Corvettes as are the base coupes and convertibles.
