Default LED Halo Tail Lights - Yay or Nay?

I'm having a fun little debate with my wife pertaining to LED tail lights for our C5s and am hoping that you all can provide your honest opinion of them for me.

I feel that they give our cars a more modern and updated look (especially with the Halo mod), while she says they are nothing but rice. If you can provide some feedback as to why you feel the way you do, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

I don't think you have done a good job explaining what rice is to her

Ya gotta have brake lights right? ( I mean its not the same thing as adding underglow). I guess some one could argue the Halo mod is sufficiently different that its not "stock" looking and therefore "ricey" ?

That person wouldnt be me

Got em....love em

Well my LED tails were made in China so that qualifies as rice in my book. But I still like them.

the shtty ones from ebay are pure rice.

the char-din halo tails are one of the best appearance mods you can do.

almost all modern cars now come with LED tails or offer them as an upgrade.

I agree with you - it provides the car with an updated look and besides, since the LED lights are much brighter than the stock setup, it provides a safety benefit in that other drivers can see the back of the car better.

That's like calling the new Cadillac lights "rice". LED technology is now the automotive standard on most high-end cars.

There is nothing "rice" about improving lighting performance and visibility.

Now if you get a set of matching neon lights for underneath your poll results may be different....

Glad you like them George!

Yes for sure on the led tails. Just take her out at night and you'll see most new cars have led tails now. Some of them look really nice. They're getting creative with them.

Setting aside the 'rice vs modern':

They do provide more visibility (to vehicles behind the Vette) when you are signaling the intention to turn, or to stop.

Not to mention that with the LED tail lamps on at night the visibility factor vs OEM is plainly better.

Just my $0.02

I got the LED halo tail lights and did the halo mod myself. Go to youtube and search for "C5 halo mod" and there is a step by step video that shows you how to do it and what you need. Fairly simple procedure and the look is amazing as the halo portion lights up with the parking lights and the rest of the center lights up with the brake and or blinkers on. I get great comments all the time on these lights and in my opinion is a better setup because the brightness is more than double over stock and does add a nice modern look over the stock. One of the best lighting mods you can do IMO. Good luck bro!
