Default LED turn signal/drl Cove lighting wiring help

2002 Coupe...Bought these led strips 3 wire and im having trouble wiring them properly.

3 wire from strip (Light Color = Red(DRL) Yellow (Turn Signal) Black (Ground)

I have them spliced into the Factory DRL 3 wire Connector. Blue/white to Yellow (strip)...Brown to Red (strip) black to black

everything works okay as long as i turn on the parking lights ?

With just the key in the on position and the turn signal lever NOT activated...the signals on the strip flashes amber..

If i turn on parking lights from the stalk the strip goes to red and the signals flash only when you move the stalk (works fine that way)

I dont like the way they act with just the key on.... any suggestions?

You don't wire the turn signal wire to the front lights.

You'll need to wire the turn signal to the two fat blue signal wires under the steering wheel.

Here's how:

I cringe when I see scotch locks used on wires.

Thanks for the info...Damn...seems like alot of work for a bit of bling..
I guess i have to drill through the firewall to hook into the Cove LEDS?
Can i leave the 2 wires hooked up to the front lights connectors? (black Ground and brown DRL)?

I would cut into factory wires and either solder or just tape the joint..depending on how much working room

are you looking to have them light up *and* blink or just blink?

mine are set to only activate with the turn signal stalks so I only run 2 wires with nothing going to the front corner lights.

I totally agree. Can't beat soldering, even when wiring houses. I know of one guy I worked with who built his own house without a single scotch lock/wire nut in the place. Scotch locks are a repeat business for the installer. I had the Stealership use one after I specifically asked them not to. I took it off and soldered it......

Scotch locks aren't that great, but if you're not going to solder the connection, they beat just taping the connection. Just taping WILL have a problem connection eventually.......

I was hoping to utilize all 3 wires..have them light up then switchback to flashing signals.

Any other location i can pick up those 2 signal wires other than in dash?

If not i might just go with the 2 wire setup for signals i guess.

If you want them to light up, I'd tap into the small parking bulb in the front corner light housing. yeah, it's a bit of a pain to get to the thick blue wires under the knee panel, but that's where you want to get your turn signals from

In order to achieve my desired effect with these lights i had to disable the DRL by pulling fuse #2 in the engine compartment fuse box.
With the DRL disabled i am able to tap the 3 wires from the DRL socket (easier wiring)

with key on:
> nothing flashes or lights up right away (DRL Disabled)
> I can use the turn signals and the led strip flashes amber sequentially..
> Turn on parking lights...led strip lights up Red and switches back to flashing amber when turn signals activated

Thought that Red lights indicate the back of the car? Don't know if the vehicle code states this, but this may draw attention to police for a reason to pull you over if they see Red lights on the front of the car.

I see several of you agree with this. Can you explain why? Scotch locks are widely used. Could any of you explain to me specifically why you don't like them?

LED Strips are in the fender coves...just like a side marker....not on front of car...
