I haven't planned the stop in LR yet. I have an old AF buddy stationed there and I haven't talked to him yet. I'm at the Holiday Inn in BG. Caravan works for me. I'll PM you my cell number.

Now Country singer Josh Gracin from American Idol and ex Marine will be performing at the banquet dinner. This trip is getting better all the time for my 20 year old daughter.

To the NCM:
Hi Karen, You might wish to post FAQs on the Corvette Forum as there are lots of questions happening there. What most are asking is since some of us have registered to drive one or both days, are we automatically selected or has the 50 car limit already been reached?
From the NCM:
David,
As far as I know now – we are just a little over 50 Corvettes and are looking closer to 75 – to give the soldiers caregivers a chance to ride in a Corvette as well if they choose.

Members, the driving slots are filled but it is a great event and a fun packed two days to attend. If you are able to come and show support for the Veterans it would be awesome for them to see so many Corvettes and support. Come if you can.

It looks like I'll be relinquishing my driver spot. I hit ice and wrecked my work truck yesterday morning. I broke a bone in my right hand and now have it in a soft cast for several weeks.
I was really looking forward to this event. Unfortunately, it's hard to drive a manually-shifted car with a broken hand.

Cancelled Vette Drivers Needed - American Warrior Airlift
Rec'd an email from Wendell Strode. I'm sorry to say teh event has been cancelled. Apparently when switching over from Walter Reed to Ft. Campbell-legal here wanted much more than the proffer that was submitted for their review. It has taken at least a week maybe a bit longer for legal (JAG) to come back which also meant still needed to market more with the Wound Warriors. BUT THE GOOD NEWS-the museum plans to schedule this again in the future.

What a huge blunder on the part of the corvette museum! How do you put out the event info and get everyone signed up and ready to go and not even have the go ahead from the ones that it is for???? A big letdown for us that were traveling a long way to do this and have made plans and arrangements. I hope the NCM will give the ones that were signed up to drive the first chance to be a driver if and when it is rescheduled.

Yeah, I'm sure lots of us made plans and so on. I tried to call and cancel my reservation there but they weren't answering the phone or too busy getting lots of cancellation calls.

Don't begrudge the NCM. They made the call to postpone now, rather than waiting until the last minute. THAT would have ticked me off for sure. It would be cool if they gave us first dibs when they reschedule the event!

I've written back to Karen to confirm this cancellation because of the web site still showing the event taking place. I'm concerned that the email could have been hacked.

David/Bill the email wasn't hacked. Came from Wendell and there was one I rec'd that came through the Legion Riders also plus I was in touch with the WTB (Warrior Transition Battalion) POC here at Ft. Campbell. It's a shame and in my earlier post I used the word cancellation when I should have said postponed but I did say it is going to be later. The plan is to bring the planners together in a face to face meeting as I understand it and get this on track for another date. From what I got in my conversations must have been a breakdown in communication. I feel this will be planned well and a big success once things are coordinated. If I were to point a finger I think it would be at the Air Force. They gave the museum the dates of 29/30 March then said the flight was a no go but I salute the museum for trying to continue to do this for Wounded Warriors at Fort Campbell. Although postponed it still going to happen just another date and that's a great thing. I hope they keep us on the list as well since several of us were in the group to drive and some of us like myself was there for both days.
Just my $.02,
Bill

I recieved an email for the NCM Event Planner stating it was "postponed due to circumstances beyond their control" and it was going to be held at a latter date. Hopefully they'll keep the original drivers in mind and give us first dibs.

Thanks Major Bill, I also Emailed Karen to ask to be considered first as a driver for when this is rescheduled. I would still be interested in the event and really want to make the trip to see the museum and assembly plant. I can understand the problem with the legal end of it but it just seems so miniscule when these guys went around the world and fought for our country and lost limbs and alot more and now it is a big deal to ride in a fellow Americans Corvette for an hour and a half in their own country escorted by the State Police none the less! This should not take more than a day or even hours to work out. Thanks for keeping us informed Bill, Later laurelboy.
