[Z06] Who Has the Earliest Z06 Built in 02,03,04. Post your Build Date.

"Q. Does the build sheet contain the build date?
A. No. In 2006 the Assembly Plant quit putting dates of any type on the build sheet for whatever reason. Prior to that, the date on the build sheet was NOT the date the car was built, but the date the order was entered for production. It has been reported that it took 7-10 working days from the time the order was entered until the Corvette rolled off the production line."

Well, my 02 Red Z06 has a high VIN number, and does not even qualitfy, however, the 02 Red coupe, one of my Z06's two stablemates, has VIN number 00003. It was the first Red Corvette off the line and the second coupe. As you would expect, it was a pilot car for GM. 00001 was a black coupe and 00002 was a millennium yellow convertible. I've done some checking to see if the first two Corvettes are still around, but have not found anything in the GM data base at my dealer to determine their status. They both were sold, so they probably still exist. If the owners of the two above Corvettes read the forum, I hope they respond to this post. I am satisfied now that I have the first RED 02 Corvette, as all Corvettes are RED. My 08 convertible was a GM show car and I am the first owner. Took me more than one year to find the 08 as I wanted a Red interior and 6 speed.

The date on parts could be 3-4 months earlier than when they actually started assembling the car. The build order is when that process started.

Thanks Joshua. I like it myself. One great thing about owning the 3 Corvettes is that my wife approves and supports the stable. But after 39 years of marriage, she knows my passion for Corvettes is unbounded. When she met me, I had 2 427-390HP 1966 Corvettes, a roadster and a coupe. She knew what she was getting into when she married me. Now I am looking for a C5 for her, but that is sometime in distant future. It has to be exactly what she wants, no compromise. It is out there I know. I don't think she is really ready to make the plunge yet, but I am working on it. Best part, if she does get one, I still get to keep the 3 Red Corvettes. and do the maintenance and cleaning myself on hers. I never get tired of washing the Corvettes.
