HI JACK, WHAT A TRIP. WE BOUGHT OUR C5 VERT WITH THE THOUGHT OF DOING AN OHIO TO CALIFORNIA ROAD TRIP ONCE A YEAR. SO FAR WE'VE DONE 6 OF THEM & THEY HAVE BEEN A BLAST. LONGEST 1 WAY HAS BEEN ABOUT 4700 MILES SO NOTHING COMPARED TO YOURS. I'VE POSTED A FEW PICTURES IN MY PUBLIC PROFILE FROM SOME OF THE TRIPS. WE AGREE WITH YOU, DRIVE THE CARS, THEY'LL ENJOY IT & SO WILL YOU. TAKE CARE,

I'd like to drive up the Blue Ridge Pkwy, and maybe take it back home to Philly and the BIG Manzana. Park the car where I grew up , where! Brooklyn baby, yeah! Oh maybe drive to the Florida Keys.............

Hi Jack -

Very sweet trip!

My wife and I have been around Lake Superior, traveled all the way on the Cherhola Skyway, the Blue Ridge Parkway, been through the Smoky Mountain Drive, the Dragon, took a trip to to Miami, and also have most recently traveled down to Kentucky and followed the Bourbon Tour, then went to Bowling Green (been there many times), and also to the Jack Daniels distillery. All trips started in Central Illinois.

Most of the trips were taken in my Z06, but a couple were in my wife's 99 A4 coupe.

Every Corvette I have ever seen has had windshield wipers and was made to drive.

Great trip in an excellent car - thanks for posting the thread here.

best regards -

Default Thanks

Thanks to all for their kind comments.

What they say about C5 people is not true............mostly

But that's another story. Now that I know you not all of you have tans, sun glasses and gold chains, we can be friends.

Just kidding, but then again I am new to this section and may take awhile to get use to.

Default How much tenting ?

This is pretty awesome....makes me want to do a smaller version again. Get my Z06 and just do 10 days of driving around in the midwest. I love Utah, Nevada and Colorado. I'd like to just drive out and explore. C5Z has LOTS of trunk space...lol...I could fit a house size tent.
Camped out about 10 days ,, stayed in motels 4 days

and was hosted by about 70 to 80 corvette people , none that I had ever met before. It was almost overwhelming, the reception I received , even in the smallest town, and I drove through a lot of small towns. If you stay on the blue hi-ways of America, you will never have a problem.

I could not stop for a rest , without someone stopping asking if I needed help.

Of course there were times that I did not see man, nor beast or cars for what seems like hours on end. Just me , the car, the road

Go for that ride, even for a few days, just you and the car

Jack

What were they saying about C5 people??? Nice to see you in the C5 forum. BTW the C5 did a Napa to Colorado Springs trip for the CAC Cruise in '07. The C6 did the Black Hills Corvette Classic in '09: did over 4,000 miles for that with our two doxies with us (on both trips).

So, you have not gone on a long ride with the little pooches in 2 years.

Shame on you. Even though you are getting a little chilly weather, I would love to stop over again for some tea and cookies (hosted me on my 48 state ride) and wine

So hello to the doggies

Jack

Well, I've got the tan and the sunglasses [beach requirements] but the gold chain money goes for "mods"..

Did Western States Corvette Council 2010 Convention in Las Vegas last year. Did not take the doxies since we also had some adult entertainment (casinos and shows) to keep us busy. But that was a short trip only about 500 miles one way if I remember right. That was in the C5 since I also ran the autocross. Rhys
