rb,
a lot of '99/'01 owners would LOVE to have that major problem,,,,,,,,,,,,
We all want our 45-52K rides to be perfect, but the fact remains......they are made by HOOMIN beings..............and it ain't ever gonna be perfect G.I.
Count your blessings............... :yesnod:

My last sports car was made in Japan. (Acura Type R). It was flawless. The American legacy car makers still have a ways to go IMO. Although the Z06 is a great car, there are many more build related problems with it than I would expect for this caliber of car.

rbartick:
check the front air dam area. Mine were loose on the right and left sides. Noticed it applying Zaino and took care of it then.
BTW, there was a screw sitting in the passenger seat when I took delivery of the car. I've yet to figure that one out.

Time to get the car up and have a look. That Might be a screw that holds the springs on the exhaust suspension, or just a left-over from the plant that got left on a surface somewhere. I have found numerous loose bolts and screws on my Z06 so far. Makes you wonder...

I had one under my passenger carpet which I found when I did the V1 hardwire.

I had a screw fall out of my fender between the floor. It was just hanging out of a little hole. It was just laying in there. At the plant they probably drop those things all over. Just like roofers drop nails all over your driveway, ya kinda like that.

Man does that screw look familiar... Is that one of the chin guard screws? It's been a while, but it looks to me like it might be one of the screws from the chin guard brace. Maybe it took a good scrape and loosened up?

It may have been dropped during assembly and just finally made its way to the ground.

When I picked up my Z06 at the dealer it had two miles on it. I drove it home and looked in the trunk and found a large black screw just laying in the middle trunk recess (extra parts from the factory maybe??). The next day I drove it to work and back and when I got home I found foam on the driver side floorboard (must have come out of the seat somewhere??) I now have 2100 miles on my Z and yesterday when I got home I noticed that one of the plastic lug nut covers had fallen off. I truly think this thing is falling apart!!

OK, it's not really falling apart but this is just a little bit disturbing. At least it's not falling apart like my Porsche was!

I have found loose items left inadvertenly from the assembly process....on all of my new Corvettes....Not to worry!! Just be glad GM never charged you for the 'extra' parts.....

For an interesting article comparing the reliability to a BMW M Coupe, see http://www.lumenique.com/Cars/Z06%20pg/.htm :)
