Over 3yrs on mine with no issues and have driven in conditions where I couldn't drive any faster than 50mph without hydroplaning
lately.

i just installed mine had it less then a month..been in two rain storms..and as soon as i got home i checked the intake..around the filter...and it was dry...so i am pretty sure the system works like they intended...so i am not really that worried about it..and like others have said..unless you submerge the whole front end in water..it wont really matter what you have on your car at that point..

Ive had the system a couple months. Drove it in the rain many of times and never had an issue. There are holes drilled on the bottom of the scoops that help any water that gets in there to drain down out of them. I do have screens in front of my fogs to to help keep debris and such from getting in there.
Same set up here, for four years now. Drove in a horrible storm from Norman, OK to Texas Motor Speedway for the Lone Star Classic,,,,NO problems at all!
The Vararam WORKS as advertised!

never had any problems with water in my vararam but it would have to be up to the fog light openings since the vararam is connected to that intake area.
if you really worry about it, you may want to look at this "bypass diaphram", looks interesting but i dont think you need it with a vararam.

Mine has been in 3 years, no problems with water, fitment, or quality.
Vararam seems to get great word of mouth recommendations from actual owners; yet falls victim to a lot of internet heresay.

Remember it's a car and not a submarine and you'll be fine. If you have, and use common sense you'll be OK. No common sense and you deserve what happens and it's still not Vararams fault.
For the record I promise I can Hydrolock any car made, if I wanted to, regardless of what intake system the cars running. It would be fun too.

Depends on where you live to determine what your qualification of a "downpour" is. Here in Florida they are horrible and saturating. Dig really deep and you'll find hydrolocks in tropical climates with the Vararam. A few local shops have reported them as well. My vette will be a daily driver again soon, so I am switching from a vararam to a stinger.

Another uncles,cousins neighbors friend story.No one has actually found a real case where the Vararam caused or contributed to a hydro lock.We have frog choker thunder storms here in Louisiana and very poor street drainage.No one in the three local corvette clubs have EVER heard of a problem!
"A few local shops" <-- I find that hard to believe. I haven't heard of a single instance where the car wasn't totally submerged in the first place. Taking the car off a pier and hydrolocking isn't exactly something you can blame on the Vararam unless you were going to so fast that you couldn't stop and ended up going off the pier. LOL
