In October 2004, my 2004 Z06 was tuned by Lingenfelter/21st Century Musclecars. From the factory it had 336.7 rwHp and 329.7 rwTq. After tuning, it came in at 377 rwHP and 356 rwTq. I also wanted to baseline the car before we put boost on the engine. At the dyno in LG in 2008, the car pulled 372 rwHP and 362 rwTq. These are pretty consistent numbers at two different dynos and seperated by 4 years. So what I can say is that dyno tuning should get you to mid 37x rwHP and high 35x rwTq.

I may just tune it for the AFE intake it has and keep the stock manifolds in-case I do move back to CA.
Just installed the Vreds today and I like the way they look!

Update: When I get my tax return back I'll be going with either Kooks or ARH for the 1 7/8.
The ceramic coated Kooks at Maryland Speed cost the same as the uncoated ARH 1 7/8 catless system if I get a military discount... opinions?

What about just doing the intake/tune and doing a 75-100shot? Spray would be cheaper than doing headers and add more hp/tq plus no worries about smog if you move back to CA

If I did N20 it would have to be hidden or removed for inspection. N20 is fun but I've been there and done that. I may just try to keep it 50 state legal and throw on a blower. We'll see... I'm really impressed with peoples cars that are just tuned with a Vararam or other intake system. These cars are really tight from GM.

Spray shouldn't be the cause of you not passing smog, as long as its not hooked up theres nothing illegal about it AFAIK. But ya intake and tune is a big seat of the pants change for cheap

01z bone stock to the filter 332/328
Add ARH with cats / Stinger / Tune 372/364
Probably some more in it, pretty conservative tune. My friends 01z with kooks and no cats and an 02 cam made 390/379
Cam between 01 and 02-04 is worth at least 15hp

I was reading your post and was like. "no S***, they do dyno lower than the '02." lol I would never swap for another stock cam either.

Interesting - I have an almost identical setup on my '03 Z, also tuned by CMS. B&B ceramic shorties, Shaner TB, Magnaflow X with Corsa Xtreme, but a Halltech instead of the Callaway. I made 380 hp and 374 tq after my tune. I told Ryne I wasn't after peak power, but also wanted better mileage. Not sure if the diff is the tune or the CAI.

Update: I bought a used set of ARH 1 7/8 on the forum and contacted Nick @ ARH to get the remainder of the parts. Great guy. Will also try something different... Installing a ported 90/90 combo along with my AFE intake and will get it tuned. We'll see if the Fast can get the car over 400RWHP with the stock cam! Cam will go in soon...

Hi firefighter813x -
400rwhp is (or was) kind of the holy grail of stock head bolt on cars, although I have been out of forum "dyno-wars" game for a bit.
My 02 Z did 356rwhp bone stock on the Breathless portable Mustang, and then did 372.5 rwhp on the same dyno with the same operator after I installed a Halltech TRAP cold air intake and and Ernie did a re-tune at Breathless.
A couple of years later, I had LG Pros installed by LG, and on the baseline run on their Dynojet, the car put down a 374, confirming the earlier Breathless 372.5 number. After the header install and cat removal, the car did 389rwhp.
I am but one data point in the big world of dyno-racing, but my experience was that the Mustang and the Dynojet gave similar results when operated by knowledgeable, experienced operators who knew their equipment and were not playing any "dyno-tricks".
The best number you will ever get to prove your car/driver combo is the one you will get at the track.

Headers are good, and they make more sense as you add more intake enhancements, but they still work well for a stock intake tract in my experience.
best regards -

2002 Z06 (Test done in 2002)
Stock: 362hp/355 torque
With the only mod: corsa titanium catback exhaust: 385hp/381 torque
These are actual not SAE corrected.
Vinci Hi-Performance, Orlando
Does anyone know of a good dyno/Tuning shop near Central Illinois--could be in Indy or Chicago. I have added at Halltech Venom II and would like to get the Z retuned. Thanks
