Goodyear Gatorback belts are a great choice.

Do you think I should change the belt for safety sake even If I don' see any cracks after a slight visual inspection.
How much does this "gatorback" belt cost?
Thank you.

Based on forum suggestions I tried the Gatorback but after driving it for a couple of years it developed cracks and appeared to be failing. Replaced it with a Dayco and all is well. May have been a fluke or old stock - no way of knowing. $.02

The AC belt is the same for 97-04.
The alternator is different on the later years hence the difference in length of the belts. The length difference is only like 3/4 of an inch but if you need the long one and get the short one, it won't fit so get the correct one.

NO. Just change it if it's chirping, squealing, cracking, torn or something. No need to fix what isn't broken or worn out.

Whatever you decide to use, replace both at the same time. I bought my Z16 with 3,800 miles in '06 from the original owner. I ordered new GATORBACK belts immediately to carry in the tool bag.

I just installed Gatorback belts on my 2000 C5. The PN#'s were 4060798(ALT, P/S, and W/P) and 4040420 (A/C). I bought em from Amazon.com, think it was around $45 shipped.

I was thinking with my 2000 being 10.5 years old this spring that I may change the belts and tensioners just as a maintence item. But am I hearding that they can last for a lot longer so don't sweat it until something actually breaks? The car has 45k on it so not a ton of miles.
