Ok Guys help me with a headlight issue
I have just started noticing my driver's headlight not wanting to come up (and sometime not go down) recently. Appears to happen mostly when the car has sat outside in colder weather. Is there anything that should tie headlight issues to cold weather? It appears to work fine in the garage...

I'm not sure if it's weather related or not but the above link is an a great guide on how to replace the cog in the headlight assem. From what I read, quite a bit of headlight problems go back to the plastic gear that is OEM. Thanks to Patches for the great write-up.

Another possibility is contaminated connections to the headlamp control module which sits on the frame rail directly behind the passenger headlamp assembly. Both connectors there can get contaminated over time.

I had to replace one of the gears in mine. However, it was obvious that the gear was going in my case because there was a loud grinding noise every time the lights were switched on. If you are not getting the grinding noise, its quite possible that the issue is electrical. Can you hear the light trying to raise, or does it just not try to come up?

It sounds to me like the early stages of gear stripping. Maybe they are not so bad that the noise is too obvious. You can leave it a while and see if it gets worse and the "machine gun" noise starts. You could also try raising the headlights manually and see if you can feel any hesitation in the raising.
Its an easy fix if its the gears.
