Default Are you in a Corvette Club??

I am thinking about joining a local corvette club. I know that when I was in a Harley HOG club they had there own little "click" and kind of ignored other members. As all clubs are, you have your people that do all the work and others that are just members that support the club. The corvette club is sponsered by a local dealer and gives 10% parts and labor discount to club members. Just wondering what some of your opinions are?

NO! I am not!

I just don't have the time to add that to my already busy life right now.

Although I certainly do 'APPRECIATE' the shows the local clubs and not so local (Far Clubs) put on that I do enjoy attending So I support them when I can

Thanks,Matt

No, I'm not a club guy. I've always been kind of a loner when it comes to stuff like that. I have a number of friends who belong to Corvette clubs that are very nice people, and I also know a few who are very arrogant because they drive a Corvette. I went to a show about 13-years ago and was talking to a guy with a beautiful Corvette. When I told him I had a Mustang Cobra, he literally turned and walked away. That did it for me.

Yep....Corvette's of Northeast Louisiana....Some very nice folks from all walks of life.....As far as the arrogant guy, one doesn't have to be in a club to possess that disease!

Yes, Corvette Club of Delaware Valley. The club has been around since 1958, we have over 500 fun loving, vette driving members. http://www.ccdv.com

My advice is if you chose to join, get involved with the club. Don't just join and rely on everyone else's efforts.

No clubs for us for now. Our last club was a tri five Chevy club for about five years. I enjoyed most of the members and regular activities, but those "few" that complained, whined and never participated or volunteered unless it involved free food ruined the experience for us. The "cliques" were very apparent. One faction always volunteered, the other never did. I served as a board member for a year and saw to many other board members with personal agendas. You'd have thought they were on a national political committee instead of an 80 member non profit car club.

Where we live now, there is a local Vette club here which is also supported by a local dealership. I've met many of the members, participate in their great annual Vette show and enjoy being around them for the most part. But I can't get enthused about joining another club...

Would you believe I belong to 2 Corvette Clubs? I can pick and choose the events that best fill my likes and calendar. Great group of people in each club.

Joined the local club when I got my first C3. Thought it would be like a local CF, but not so. Found it to be just a clicky social club. So, short answer is "No".

my personal experience with corvette only clubs is that you will find it no different (perhaps even a bit more cliqish and snobby) than your experience with the HOG club. as i have mentioned in many other posts on the subject, i wouldn't join a corvette only club if they gave me a new vette just for joining. i'm sure each and every corvette only club is different, and the one in your area might be very different, but if i were a betting man, i'd bet against it. obviously that's just my 2 cents on the subject.

Pretty much every club or social gathering is going to have a clique.
Just have to see which clique you click with.

I personally don't see the need to be in a club. We get at least 10% or more on chevy parts discounts from our forum sponsors. There is enough meets and gatherings that aren't club only in my area that I don't see why I have to pay money just to be in a "club" that does everything I want to do for free normally. In my area there's at least a couple Corvette only gatherings that are CorvetteForum gatherings and not "club" gatherings. There are many other any car shows in the area that I attend with all makes of vehicles too.
