Default Have you guys ever floored it?

Do you guys floor your a4 often? I owned a manual nissan 350z and a mustang in past and i used to floor them in all gears. They were easily controllable and manageable. i was driving my c5 at 20 mph yesterday and i thought to floor it. The car started spinning tires and rear end slided a little bit. Do you guys think i need wider tires? i got 275 in rear

I never floor it myself if you really want traction, get a set of drag radials.

What kind of tires do you have and how old are they?

I floor mine all the time and I do the same but my parents car got 4 month old tires and theirs hooks up great, it just squats and launches.

I floor mine occasionally and it almost always activates the traction control.

Yes I've floored my A4 and the rear tires will certainly break loose.

OMG!!!

I've often wondered what would happen if I ever floored it.

I think it will remain one of life's little mysteries as far as I'm concerned...

cool. so how does it behave when you try to merge onto highway and you floor it. just curious. When i floored it while doing 50 on highway it downshifts and engine makes some mean sound. That scares the crap out of me. my wife almost had a heart attach

I have close to 700 hp, I don't have to put the pedel to the metal
to merge with traffic.
It sounds like your tranny is downshifting to 3rd from 4th when
you step on it when merging. This would be natural. If you had
your motor tuned the trans shift points could be made more sharp-
tight. Then you would have crisp shifting. GM likes to keep them lose from the factory.
The mean sound of the engine is a good sound.
May be you would have a better merge if you just pressed half
way down instead of on the floor. Later/
