Default OEM Thin Spoke (Y2K) wheels cracks?

I'm about to purchase OEM high polished thin spoke wheels wich are in perfect shape, but I've heard they're not the strongest wheels (cracks) Can I safely take them to the track without afterwards having cracks in them? Has anyone ever experienced these wheels cracking?

The OEM C5 wheels are good wheels. IF they are in good shape NOW, they will be fine at the track. Iv'e used C5 AND C6 OEM wheels at the track for years with no problems.

You SHOULD however inspect the wheels regularly for any types of stress cracks no matter what type or brand of wheel you use. ANY wheel can crack under extreme use as they see in track use....

As long as the wheels have no existing cracks they should be fine for track use.

Keep a close eye on them if you do. Mine have less than 44k miles on them and there are some very small hairline cracks forming, and i don't track these wheels. I have a separate dedicated set of wheels and tires i track with.

Personally, i would recommend a dedicated set of track wheels no matter what wheels you have. This way, you can have a nice set of race tires, leaving you with the option to run less expensive tires for the street. Plus, this also means you're not wasting your nice race tires on daily driving use.

I have the 2001 thinspokes and love them, and after having RejeX'ed them yesterday, noticed no cracks of any kind and I drive on some harsh roads and highways.
